Lia, who is also a medical professional, also expressed disbelief at the doctor's dismissive comments regarding her treatment history and basic medical concepts
Getting a routine medical appointment requires a basic level of trust, empathy, and professional courtesy from healthcare providers. However, Lia (@lia.living)'s recent clinic visit turned into an unsettling encounter after she caught her physician speaking about her. After completing her physical exam, she unexpectedly overheard the doctor mocking her inability to produce a urine sample while discussing the situation with a nurse. The doctor had no idea what he got himself into until she confronted him. Her TikTok video posted on October 21, 2026, has since gained over 1.5 million likes and 30,400 comments.
@lia.living I feel so violated. I overheard them laughing at me because they thought I was already gone. I was here for a physical. He was unaware that I was a new patient and was so dismissive of me during the appointment. I just lost my dad to cancer last month who was a beloved MD in the community and to experience a lack of professionalism during this sensitive time is sickening. #discrimination #suwaneegeorgia #atlanta #doctor ♬ original sound - LIA
The confrontation unfolded at a clinic located at 960 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Suwanee, Georgia, where Lia had gone in for a general physical exam. Despite drinking a full bottle of water and using the restroom before arriving, Lia was unable to produce a sample on command due to dehydration and being on her menstrual cycle. Rather than maintaining patient confidentiality, the physician, Dr. Xi, was caught laughing about the situation with a nurse near the hallway desk.
Confronting him head-on, Lia captured the interaction on camera: "It's funny because I can't give you seven drops of urine? You were in that office. You didn't even say your name. You didn't introduce yourself...you were questioning whether or not I knew my diagnosis, and you were very dismissive of me." When the physician offered a hesitant apology, Lia rejected the gesture, stating, "Don't apologize for how I feel about it. You need to apologize for what you said, talking about your client in a disrespectful way."

As the interaction continued, Lia noted that the physician left the examination room door open, suggested she get undressed while he was still inside the room with his back turned, and barely gave her sufficient time to dress privately. Furthermore, Lia, who revealed that she is also a medical professional, expressed disbelief at his dismissive comments regarding her treatment history and basic medical concepts, asking, "You're a medical professional. You don't know how IV infusions work? That is so odd to me. Like, your terminology seems below level for an MD, sir."
In her video caption, Lia shared that the experience felt particularly painful following the recent loss of her father, a respected MD in the community, adding: "I feel so violated...to experience a lack of professionalism during this sensitive time is sickening." While exiting the clinic, walking toward the reception area, Lia calmly requested that her upcoming blood work results be emailed to her, ensuring the front desk staff understood that her frustration was directed strictly at the provider's conduct.

According to a landmark MITRE-Harris Poll Survey, 52% of U.S. patients report feeling that their symptoms are ignored, dismissed, or doubted by their healthcare providers. Furthermore, according to a new analysis of 2022 KFF Women’s Health Survey (WHS) data, 46% report experiencing a negative interaction with a health care provider. They say that these interactions included a doctor either dismissing their concerns, assuming something about them, believing they were lying, blaming them for their health problems, or discriminating against them because of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or some other personal characteristic.

Viewers sparked massive outrage in the comment section, supporting Lia and calling out the staff's unprofessional behavior. @sn0w.drop highlighted, "He couldn’t believe you caught his a**." Meanwhile, @deejthoadon wrote, "This is completely inappropriate. No one should be laughed at in any medical facility ever!"
