There are plenty of tales about meeting your soulmate — but Ashley Watson's (@ashleybytheseaapass) might top them all. Her happily ever after began way before she met the love of her life when she and her friends put a psychic reading to the test. On November 10, 2024, just days before meeting Carson Ballou, her partner, she asked the spiritual advisor to draw her soulmate. As expected, it gave her an artistic sketch with specific timelines of their meetings. Things, however, took a surprising turn when Watson met Carson Ballou, who turned out to be the closest match to the Etsy psychic reading. In a post she shared on July 2, 2026, Watson revealed they're finally getting married.

A familiar face

Watson initially did not take the psychic reading too seriously. In fact, even after meeting Ballou, she didn't think about it at all. "In all honesty, when I saw him, I didn’t even think about the psychic thing. I was just like, ‘That’s a hot man,'" she told The New York Post. She didn't seem to notice until one day, while showing his pictures to her family, her cousin pointed out that he looked like the sketch she received from Lucrezia, the Etsy artist. This was a eureka moment for Watson, who then started connecting dots.

The big reveal

It was only after this that Watson took another look at the sketch and compared it with Ballou's face. She felt the similarities were too much to ignore. Overwhelmed, Watson called Lucrezia a "witch." Nonetheless, upon seeing the similarities, she tried to keep it a secret from Ballou, thinking that it might scare or creep him out. But in the end, Watson could no longer keep this secret to herself and decided to spill the beans. Surprisingly, her partner didn't mind at all. While he was surprised, he took it pretty well.

Well, why wouldn't Ballou? Within no time, the couple moved in together. Both fell head over heels for each other, to the extent that Ballou referred to Watson as an "angel who deserved the world." In January, Ballou eventually proposed to Watson in the beautiful fields of Valensole. Overjoyed, she accepted the proposal, as she shared through a post on Instagram.

Are soulmates real?

Many people resonate with the idea of finding a soulmate, as highlighted by a YouGov poll, which shows that approximately 60% of Americans believe it. The belief is more prevalent among women, with about 64% supporting the notion compared to 55% of men. The study also indicates that a person’s relationship status influences their belief in soulmates; those who are married or in a civil partnership are more inclined to believe in this concept than those who are divorced or single.

The sketch impressed the people

Nonetheless, the people were completely blown away by the story of how Watson met her soon-to-be husband. @shortnsteva wrote, "God, I’ve seen what you do for others." Meanwhile, @erinfsu commented, "Purchased! In the biggest slump of my entire life of dating since 15 (single 1.5yrs and counting) and turning 40 in 2 months….here’s hoping your girl comes in clutch for me also."
