A woman received a fortune from her father's ex-girlfriend and a note that revealed the sweet bond they had formed in the brief time of knowing each other.
We never know how our smallest actions can have a huge impact on someone's life. A woman named Jenny shared one such heartfelt story on an episode of the "Intoxicated Insights" podcast whose clip was shared on their official TikTok page @intoxicatedinsights69. She recalled when she got a random phone call in 2004 and the woman on the other end was speaking from Utah. The person who dialed Jenny was a bank manager from that state and she made a stunning revelation.
An ex-girlfriend of Jenny's dad had passed away and she had left her and her brother a fortune of $50,000. The inheritance money came along with a letter which made Jenny understandably emotional. “I bet you both are asking yourself, who is she?” Jenny narrated the contents of the letter during the podcast. “I met you and your father in 1986 when you were about 10 and 12 years old. You were both great kids. You were friendly and made me feel welcome in your lives. You wanted to be an actress and wanted to own a pink Ferrari. You won a little stuffed lion for me. I still have it. Jenny, when you went to camp, you made me a wall hanging out of a pie plate. I still have it."
The emotional letter continued, detailing small things that the deceased lady could still recall in her last days. “We had lots of fun times together,” the letter read ahead. “Do you remember me now? So, thanks for letting me be a part of your family, at least for a little while. I never had any children of my own. But for that one year, you made me feel like I was a part of your family.” While reading the letter midway, Jenny broke down in tears and took a moment to collect herself before she continued.
The letter further revealed that the lady had a kidney transplant in 1992 which gave her some extra years to enjoy the world and she had a good life. “I would like to make your life a little easier and more secure. I pray you both have wonderful lives. PS: Jenny, please don’t buy a pink Ferrari. But if you want one, buy it," the letter concluded and the woman signed her name as Shirley Norton. At the end of the day, it didn't matter how Jenny and her brother decided to spend the sum of money but it was surely a thoughtful and overwhelming gesture from someone who was a part of their lives for a brief period. Fellow TikTok users left a bunch of uplifting comments for Jenny and praised Norton's selfless gesture.
@piper7445 commented, "Perfect example that we don’t always know the impact we make on someone’s life. She never forgot you." @tray_and_garf shared, "I was a stepmother for 7 years. We split and he told the girl so many horrible things about me. She reached out to me this year. She no longer speaks to her dad and she still sees me as her bonus mum." @denisehaz0 quipped, "Beautiful. I have a bonus kid. When her dad and I broke up I was so scared I’d lose her. Her incredible mother keeps me in her life. I couldn’t imagine never seeing her again." @kaylaboyle.1993 added, "Motherhood and love, come in all shapes and sizes. This was a woman, who chose to love Jenny and Todd regardless of where she was and where she went. Shirley must have been a magical lady."
