While thrifting through the Goodwill bins, the woman came across an old blanket with a heartfelt note attached that deeply moved her.
Vintage family heirlooms carry wholesome stories with them, which is probably the view the person wanted to be passed on within the family. Be it a grandmother's worn quilt or a grandfather's vintage watch, each scratch, stain and fade reflects a memory. They connect us to our roots while adding a touch of nostalgia and charm to our modern lives. However, not everyone wishes to hold on to outdated objects like that for their own reasons. Recently, a woman named Amber–who goes by amberjune @amberjune_24 on Instagram–revealed a touching note she found while grazing through Goodwill bins.
In her video, Amber was thrifting old clothes and in one of the Goodwill bins, she found an unbranded khaki blanket. As her gloved hand lifted up one of the corners of the blanket, we could see a little note attached to the blanket using a safety pin. The note read, "Dad's army blanket. Please keep it in the family" and Amber couldn't help but feel heartbroken as the soldier's rug had ended up in a Goodwill bin. "Did it come home with me? Of course. Do I know what I'm going to do with it yet? Nope. What can I say, I'm a sentimental thrifter," she captioned her video.
Just as Amber, many others felt sorry for the heirloom being ridden by the family. "I know hate is a strong word, so I’ll say that I extremely dislike whoever gave up that blanket. I’m glad you grabbed it," said @jasonminauro. "The army blanket kept him warm when he was fighting for the freedom people have now. He was cold and lonely and kept it because it was where he thought about his life back home. He was scared and it helped him with anxiety. It cushioned his head when he was tired. So when you think you're burdened with keeping it, you don't want it, you have no space for it - it's not even close to the burden he went through," remarked @mybittersweetfarm. "This is heartbreaking. What a soulless person to have given this up," added @hannyscountrylife.
However, many disagreed with the aforementioned perspective, saying that it is impossible for everyone to hoard old heirlooms. "Family mementos can be important, but we have to recognize they can also become burdens for those tasked with keeping them, and there’s not always another family member to hand them off to," pointed out @bach2ed. "Don't saddle your descendants with things they don't want. Not everyone is sentimental. Not everyone has the physical or mental or emotional capacity to carry around your things," said @msnickyfox. "It's a possibility the person who had their Dad's blanket died without other families," chimed in @mullins465.

Speaking of unexpected Goodwill finds, a woman hoping to grab a baby bouncer at Goodwill for a good deal finds a semi-automatic rifle inside instead. Veronica Alvarez-Rodriguez went to the local non-profit thrift shop to buy a baby bouncer as a gift for her friend Amber Rosas' baby shower, as per CNN. She grabbed a baby bathtub toy and a Baby Einstein bouncer, but when Rosas and her husband opened the toy box, they were shocked to find a MOSSBERG 715T Semi-Auto Rifle inside. After Crestview Police inspected the rifle and checked Rosas and her husband's identities, they left the decision to own or give up the gun to the couple.
