She lied about her whereabouts for days, but claims that her husband's reaction is the dealbreaker

The green dot on the screen was supposed to offer peace of mind, a quiet way to check if the kids made it home from school or if a 40-minute commute was hitting traffic. Instead, for a husband, a routine glance at the Find My app became the first loose thread in an unraveling marriage. After which the man headed to Reddit to ask for suggestions regarding his current situation on 9 July 2026 in a now-deleted post which gained more than 2,000 upvotes within a matter of hours.
The situation began under ordinary circumstances. Using the Find My app to primarily keep tabs on the children, the husband noticed a recurring anomaly over a span of a few weeks. His wife, who commutes forty minutes away from work, frequently showed up with her location turned off during business hours. At first, the husband thought that this might just be because of weak cellular reception in her office. However, he was wrong.

Nonetheless, as the issue still persisted, the man became more observant. On Monday, the location stayed off until she returned home. On Tuesday, it remained completely off. Sensing that something wasn't right, the man decided to check the "Devices" tab on the app, only to find out something shocking. "I happened to click on devices, and her laptop pinged in a completely different town at a hotel," he revealed. Naturally, he confronted his wife when she got home.
The wife initially acted like she had come back from a normal day at the office. When the husband pressed her about why her location was off, she claimed that she didn't know a thing about it. He then pressed her regarding the hotel ping, a question which she tried to dodge at first. The breakthrough finally came when the man threatened to call her boss to verify her whereabouts. Under the pressure of a collapsing story, she at last confessed that she needed private space to reflect on the state of their marriage.

Deeply unsettled by the entire confrontation, the husband packed his bags and left the house to gain some distance. Meanwhile, in a swift pivot to blame, the wife responded to his departure by demanding a divorce, asserting that his choice to walk out was the final blow to their relationship and leaving him to question his actions. This incident shed light on the fact that hiding facts or whereabouts from a partner can strain a relationship. Despite that, a lot of people do it.
Although most partners go to such lengths when withholding information from their partner, it is quite frequent. According to a study conducted by Kaspersky Daily, at least 61% of people confirmed keeping a few of their activities secret from a partner, including online ones. Nonetheless, on the other hand, a staggering 72% did confirm that they had nothing to hide from their better half, which is quite great, as it increases transparency within a relationship.

That said, people think that the man should know what's happening. u/Cjwahaha wrote, "Come on, man, 'at the hotel to think about our relationship?' You already know what's up. Trust your gut." At the same time, u/Minute_Lavishness_32 suggested, "She's the one cheating... should have packed her a bag and told her to think in that hotel a few more weeks... don’t hand over the house!!"
