Woman shares emotional moment with grandfather after getting into medical school: 'You are our legacy'

The love that our grandparents have for us is truly special and unique. They have a deep understanding of us, having lived through many of life's challenges themselves. They offer us wisdom, guidance and support that we may not be able to find anywhere else. Their love is truly heartwarming and we can see this in a video uploaded by Danielle Glanz, who goes by @danielleglanz on TikTok. In the video, we see a woman entering a room and telling her grandfather, "I have really good news for you."

The grandfather seems surprised as he says, "Really?" To which, she replies, "I got into medical school." Her grandfather gets extremely emotional as he confirms, "What? You are going to medical school?"

In the video, both the grandfather and granddaughter appear to be deeply moved by their shared dream coming true, with visible emotion on their faces and ultimately tears being shed. The grandfather also says as he cries, "Thank you, God. I prayed to you." At this, the granddaughter comes to comfort him and he says, "You are our legacy."

The text overlay reads, "My grandpa and my sister have had the same dream for the past 10+ years of her carrying on his legacy as a doctor. He is 95 years old and she has been praying that he gets to see the day that she got into medical school and will be the next Dr. Glanz. Today was that day."

The heartwarming video quickly went viral and it has garnered 2.6 million likes and several thousand comments from TikTok users. @sofia!!!! wrote, "Oh my gosh I'm sobbing." @SamanthaKaplan commented, "This is the sweetest thing I have ever seen." @MelanieLuster wrote, "This is so precious. Oh my God." @LaurenDoesMedicine shared, "I too am carrying my grandfather's legacy. What an honor and joy."

It is truly a joy to celebrate our wins with our loved ones. This also happened to Tinaye Ngorima, whose sister Tawana shared the clip of her emotional video call with her family as he looked up all his college application responses. After a few rejections from UC Berkeley and Dartmouth, Ngorima was placed on the wait list for Yale and Princeton.

However, the disappointment was short-lived because the biggest news came when Ngorima checked his status for Harvard. Before saying anything, he shouted, "Oh my God," and his parents and little sister jumped in and yelled in celebration. "I got into Harvard!" Ngorima told his sister through the screen while his mom hugged him and his dad took photos. The excitement and happiness that filled the room showed how much Ngorima's acceptance to Harvard meant to his family. This moment of joy and pride is something that they will cherish forever.

Ngorima's admission to Harvard is not just a personal achievement but a symbol of hope for those who have struggled to overcome obstacles in their academic pursuits. It shows that with determination, focus and hard work, anything is possible.
