A 4-year-old girl came to Liss and first asked her how she read all these words in a book and later went on to ask a crucial question.
Kids sometimes ask the simplest question which can leave an adult with an existential crisis. A woman, Liss had a similar experience in a park when a 4-year-old asked her about her kids and it left her amused and wanting to do something about it. She narrated her experience in a TikTok video. She started by saying, "Why did a 4-year-old girl in the park just come over to me and have me questioning my entire existence?"
She went on to say that it gave her a mid-life crisis despite being just 30. Liss then narrated what had happened. She said that she was reading a book and a girl came up to her and asked how she read all those words. Liss responded, "When you get older you'll be able to read these words as well." Then the child went around and started to look through the woman's handbag and then got distracted by a mole on Liss's face.
After some conversation about the mole, she asked Liss her age and then started to think what 30 meant. So Liss asked the kid what her age was and the child said that she was 4 and it was her birthday yesterday. Then the kid turned to her and asked, "Where are your kids?" The 30-year-old told her that she didn't have any kids but the child was not ready to accept it. So the 4-year-old asked again, "Are they at home?" So, Liss reiterated that she didn't have any kids yet.
Liss recalled, "I start to talk to her about my nephew trying to distract the conversation talking about Paw Patrol on her hat and then she looked at me again and then she softens her voice and her eyes look compassionate and she says, 'Are they died?' She was basically asking me if my kids had passed away because she couldn't compute the fact that I don't have kids yet." While this conversation was happening, Liss was thinking about how she could explain to the kid that she did not have kids. The kid again asked her, "So where are they then?" The woman also began to ask herself the same question, "Where are they then?"
She shared, "How do I explain to this child where are they then? Where are my children? Why don't I have children yet? It is one thing for older people or people my age or age mates to say, 'Don't you have kids yet?' Like just shut up but when a little four-year-old asks you and you are sitting there in the park reading a book at 30 and all of a sudden you feel ancient. So now, where are they then? Now I'm having a midlife crisis."
Liss captioned the video, "It felt like a rhetorical question like she wanted me to think about it. I was considering freezing my eggs this week + this must be a sign lol." @la_honey_25000 commented, "Kids can be so unknowingly brutal." @ariilrc wrote, "What I understand is that she understands the concept of death like she was aware that she needed to soften her voice because death is a sensitive topic." @pearzandpeachez shared, "My niece saw a small amount of the skin on my stomach and she said, ‘A baby!’ in the middle of a restaurant. She’s 2. I am not pregnant." @mrs_ _shaz expressed, "I'd say I haven't picked up my baby from the shop yet, and when I do, I'll keep the receipt if I change my mind." @yolisa_maimela said, "My 3 y/o nephew asked my mom where her child is, and when mom pointed at me, he seemed confused because I’m not a child."
