The woman never expected the bittersweet sight she saw in the window of her old home on Google Maps.
Pet parents who've experienced the loss of a beloved furry friend who was a huge part of their everyday life know how painful it is. Even after you lose a pet, their memories and the moments they've spent with you remain. Sometimes, these memories come back to you in unexpected ways. A woman named Jen, who goes by @j3nb33 on TikTok, had a similar experience when she looked up her old house on Google Maps. She wasn't expecting to see what she saw and was moved by the bittersweet surprise.
The woman took to the platform to share the image of her old house as seen on Google Maps. The image featured a white dog sitting at one of the ground floor windows of the house. The woman also shared a version where the image was zoomed in to show the dog. "I looked up my old house on Google Maps and saw my pup who has now passed away in the window," Jen wrote in the clip's caption. The sight of her dog made her really sad. "He was rescued initially, he was my first dog. He passed away a while ago, so it was quite surreal to see him in the window of our old house," she told Newsweek, describing the image of her dog, Ice.
Seeing the photo so unexpectedly opened up a plethora of old memories with her dog. "He was a Staffordshire bull terrier cross dogo argentino. I don't have any information on his previous owners or how he was kept, but I just know they didn't want him so we took him in," Jen shared. She also told the outlet how Ice had a difficult life before being adopted into the family. She also shared interesting details about her pet. "Ice loved a tummy rub, as all dogs do, and lying in the sun. We used to have to put sunscreen on his ears so they didn't burn, with him being white and having short, fine hair." She also hilariously added that Ice used to hate her singing.
