New mom checked husband’s phone for the baby’s feeding time. Instead, she found texts with his married coworker at the job she got him

She thought it was just 'work stress'

Every relationship has its ups and downs, and a mother of two boys went through the same when she thought her husband's distant behavior was simply the result of work stress and the challenges of caring for a new baby. She reached out to the "Not As We Planned" podcast (@NotAsWePlanned) to share her story. Three weeks after their second son was born, she woke up in the middle of the night panicking because her alarm to feed him didn't go off. She found her husband's phone and tapped the screen to check the time. What she saw made her kick him out of the house the very next day. The video was shared on September 17, and it had 8,545 views, 42 likes, and 2 comments.

Blamed it on 'work stress'

The woman met her soon-to-be ex-husband when they were just 13 years old. He was the only man she had ever been with. They got married in May 2022. He had been working with her family, but she noticed how unhappy he was. She supported him while he found a new job, but she found out he had been talking to a woman he met at the gym. He claimed she helped distract him from his stress at work. Somehow, the couple managed to work out the issue.

By May 2024, they welcomed their first son, and their second was born in July 2025. Right before their second son arrived, she noticed he was "off." She naively blamed work stress because the company he was working at was shutting down. To support him, she found him a new job at her workplace.

Almost missed feeding time

Some of the "off" behaviors were putting his phone face down and not singing her "Happy Birthday." She was a few weeks away from giving birth, and he just went out to play cards with the boys. When their second son was born, he had issues with his weight. She would set an alarm every three hours to feed him. One night, she woke up panicking because the alarm did not go off. She couldn't find her phone but found her husband's instead. She tapped the screen to check the time but saw a flood of messages from their married co-worker, talking about how much she wanted to be with her husband.

The toymaker

She woke him up and confronted him, but he denied everything even though she had already seen the messages. He deleted everything and tried to convince her it was just her postpartum brain. The following day, she kicked him out of the house. Apparently, the affair had been going on for months. His mistress even made toys for her two sons, but after she found out what had been going on, she threw them in the trash. Now, she's a single mother, and because he refused to resign from the job she secured for him, she had to look for a new one because she did not want to see either of them. He still visited the kids, but only for 45 minutes, after she had fed and bathed them.

Work stress turns into workplace romance

Stress from work can cause people to seek distractions, but turning to another woman instead of your partner is not the right way to do it. Research from New Principal found that 24% of employees admitted work stress harmed their romantic relationships. Men (29%) were more likely to report this than women (19%). It made sense that the husband was distant given his work stress, but he did not deal with it the right way.

Additionally, a SimplyHired survey, cited by SHRM, found that 6% of male respondents admitted to cheating on their partner with someone from the office, while 7% of women admitted the same. Another survey by TopResume, shared by Human Capital Innovations, also found that 9.78% of employees admitted that they had a romantic or sexual relationship with their colleague even though they were already seeing someone else.

Viewers were disgusted by how her husband treated her, especially right after she gave birth to his son. @gemma_omahoney wrote, "Heartbreaking. Giving up her body to create life with this man, and this is how he treats her – disgusting. I hope she finds happiness." @carly.laurie.l commented, "Gaslighting her even after she saw the evidence!"
