The truth will always find its way out, and the way Joie Derouen (@joiederouen) found out about her cheating boyfriend was one great example. Derouen was sitting in the passenger seat of her boyfriend's car when she pulled down the sun visor and saw traces left by the other woman. In the video, she showed his car's dashboard and wrote, "Crazy because this is how I found out about the other girl." The clip was posted on March 5, 2025, and it has gained 34.5 million views, 2.4 million likes, and 7,297 comments.

Octobuddy prints

Derouen found out her boyfriend was cheating just by sitting in the passenger seat. When she pulled the sun visor down, she noticed small circles on the mirror. It wouldn't have mattered to someone else, but Derouen was familiar with the circles. It was the markings left by an Octobuddy phone case or accessory. The small circles were imprints left by the tiny suction cups that helped phones stick to flat surfaces. People, mostly women, usually use an Octobuddy to record videos or take photos of themselves with their front camera. Derouen suspected that another woman had been inside her boyfriend's car and stuck her phone on the mirror, and forgot to wipe away the circular marks left by her phone's Octobuddy.

Caught by accident

Infidelity is becoming increasingly common, and not every partner will come clean after they've had an affair. An anonymous quiz was conducted by Psychology Today on 94,943 respondents. It found that 56.8% of the respondents confessed they had cheated on a partner. 21.5% revealed that they were caught cheating, and 8.3% admitted to infidelity after they were accused. The results also revealed that 8% were caught accidentally, which was similar to Derouen's case. She caught her boyfriend cheating on her, but discovered it accidentally when she noticed the Octobuddy marks while using the sun visor mirror in his car.

Women in the comments flocked with their own discovery stories. @winterangell23 commented, "I found out because I found the wrapper for a bouquet of flowers on the floor that I didn't get." @liagnz84 shared, "He gave me his phone to look up an address and boom, as soon as he unlocked the phone her messages came through. We were on our way to pick up our baby’s stroller. I was due in 2 months." @wolfinsheepclothing8 wrote, "I wasn't even searching. Video she made in his sitting room just came on my 'for you' page."
