Bentlee discovered the voice note she heard was not the first time
Bentlee (@iambentlee) told her followers in a video she shared on June 29, "If you ask the universe for a sign, you better be ready to receive one because it really slapped me in the face." She recalled the eerie moment she asked God for a sign about her three-year relationship while her boyfriend was away on a work trip. Less than 12 hours later, while he was at the Chicago airport on his way home, she received an unexpected voice note that changed the entire course of their relationship. The video has received 124,000 views so far.
Received a sign in less than 12 hours
Bentlee had a friend over at the house while her boyfriend was in Chicago. She said, "You know something just really doesn't feel right, but I can't pinpoint it... I really need a sign." Less than 12 hours later, while Bentlee was texting her boyfriend back and forth, he sent her a voice note out of the blue. The reason why it was strange was that he had never sent her voice notes during their three-year-long relationship. When she played it, she heard him flirting with a woman at the airport bar. The voice note disappeared, but when she confronted him, he spun a lie, saying that the woman was with her boyfriend. Bentlee knew that the woman was alone, judging by the way he was talking to her.
Zero accountability
Bentlee did some further digging while her boyfriend was on his way home. She reached out to a girl he said was "just a friend," and discovered that they had dated for nine months while Bentlee and her ex were together. The girl broke it off with him after she asked whether he truly liked her or pursued her simply because he didn't respect Bentlee, and his answer was the latter. However, the worst part was the lack of accountability. Her ex-boyfriend blamed his mother's lack of affection when he was younger, which was why he needed constant validation from other women.
Different types of cheating in 2025
In 2025, the Survey Center on American Life conducted a poll regarding Americans and their views on infidelity. Sadly, 14% of men and 22% of women aged 18 to 29 believe cheating is extremely common among people in committed relationships. 93% considered sleeping with another person as cheating, 82% agreed that falling in love with another person while in a monogamous relationship was cheating, and 81% said that kissing another person was cheating.
80% said lying about spending time with another person was also cheating. Slightly more than half (55%) believed flirting with another person was cheating. As per the numbers mentioned, Bentlee's ex-boyfriend cheated on her several times by hiding his 9-month affair, as well as his recent flirty interaction at the airport bar.
'Leave instead of cheat'
People were shocked that Bentlee's boyfriend cheated on her not once, but multiple times. They were also surprised that the other woman continued the relationship even though she knew about Bentlee. @thepolishedsole_ wrote, "Why is a loyal, committed, honest, trustworthy, and beautiful woman not enough? I’ll never understand?" @benjamin.hayford commented, "Damn what a wild ride. Talk about a scumbag. That man really ain’t sh*t."
