Max took his shot and sent her a message. It only took her 10 minutes to reply back.

Mia Chard went viral a year ago after posting honest videos about being single at 41. She was interviewed by the Tamron Hall Show (@TamronHallShow), where she discussed how posting videos of herself led to finding her soulmate. In her videos, she spoke about the loneliness that comes with being single throughout her life. She wanted people to know they were not alone, and assured them through her messages that it is okay to feel lonely. By talking openly about her feelings, Chard revealed that she felt a certain level of empowerment, taking away the shame that was placed on her by herself and society.
During her appearance on the Tamron Hall Show last year, Chard revealed that a man called Max sent her a DM after seeing her soda review videos. His message was direct, but sweet. It read: "I figure I would shoot my shot since I saw your videos and I think you are really cute." He was from Utah as well, and wanted to take her out "for those pops" that she really liked. He ended the message by writing, "I figured I would at least take a chance."
Chard did not take much time to think about it. She was at a stage in her life where she was putting herself out there, online dating. By putting herself in situations that are uncomfortable but still fun, she said it improved her confidence. She wanted to take the opportunities that life was throwing at her, and Max's message was a sign for her to just go for it.

Little did she know, a year later, she would be back on the Tamron Hall Show via video call with an update. She introduced Sam to the TamFam and revealed that they are now engaged. Sam first saw Mia on her TikTok, reviewing a soda shop, and thought she was "really cute," so he immediately sent her a message. He thought she was a food reviewer, but later on, he found out about Chard's actual content. She was glad that he did not reach out to her because of her loneliness videos, saying, "Knowing it wasn't the loneliness that caught his attention as we began to talk felt really refreshing because I felt like I could introduce that part of myself to him." Chard said that being vulnerable online opened a whole new community of supportive people that truly made a big change in her life.
The number of people getting married in their 40s is decreasing over the years. According to a study by the Pew Research Center, back in 2010, only 20% of people in their 40s were unmarried. Fast forward 11 years, and the rate increased to 25% in 2021. However, this does not mean the 40-year-olds are alone. In 2022, the same survey revealed that 22% of people between the ages of 40 and 44 are living with their partners, but are not married. The findings also revealed that there is a higher rate of 40-year-old men who are unmarried than women. While Chard is not yet married, she is one step closer to getting there with her fiancé, Sam.

Netizens were rooting for Chard in the comments, loving her honesty and courage to be herself online. Not only is she an inspiration, but she is also instilling hope in many women who are in the same boat. @adeedz0123 wrote, "I just turned 40 last week. Never married, no kids, and this story is giving me encouragement that I can still find love in my 40s. I hope I do because it is so hard having to carry everything on my own and be so strong all the time. I just want to be held sometimes." @Lovely-DeeM commented, "Aw, this is so sweet! May God bless Mia and her fiancé (husband-to-be). Every clip I have seen so far of Ms. Tamron Hall's show is positive, uplifting, and puts a smile on my face. I love the positive vibes and optimism of this show, God bless you, Ms. Hall!"
