It took years for her to find her grandpa's hidden letter, but she said it came to her at the time she needed it the most.

Taylor Giany (@heyheyitstaytay19), from Florida, was going through her late grandpa's photo album when she accidentally stumbled upon a letter from 1987. The handwritten note was hidden behind an old picture of Giany and her grandpa. She was obviously confused because it was the first time she'd noticed it, but she decided to read it anyway. To her surprise, it was addressed to her; to be precise, her grandpa had written it to her in the hope that she would find it after he's gone. Giany shared it on her TikTok profile on January 4, which has gained over 145k likes so far.

She wasn't expecting to discover something so special while going through her grandpa's photo album. In fact, she told Newsweek that she found it by pure accident. It all began when Giany noticed a little crease on the corner of a particular picture. She took it out to straighten it and accidentally caught the note glued to it. The letter was a pure reflection of the beautiful bond she shared with her grandpa. "I sure do miss you and cannot wait to see you again. I love the way you jump around and give your daddy fits. Keep it up; it will keep him young. Kiss Mommy and Daddy for me and tell them I love all of you," it read.
Giany was sad that she found the letter years after he'd died and wished she'd read it while he was still alive. "However, I realized that I was meant to find it exactly when I did," Giany confessed. She lost her dad in 2015 and was going through a bad time coping with it, but her grandpa's letter unknowingly brought her joy and helped her move forward. It took 30 years for her to find her grandpa's hidden letter, but she said it came to her at the time she needed it the most.

Giany was born in December 1986, exactly two years after her grandmother died, so her grandpa always told her that she was a blessing sent by her to spread joy. They shared a wonderful relationship. He loved history, and Giany enjoyed visiting different museums with him. Years later, her grandpa's infectious enthusiasm inspired her to take up teaching. Sadly, in 2003, Giany lost her grandpa, but his memories continued to live on through his stories, mementos, and, more importantly, his pictures.
People no longer rely on letters for communication, but research suggests that they build emotional and mental well-being. In an experiment, students were asked to write a gratitude letter to someone important in their lives. Researchers questioned them about their happiness, well-being, and sense of meaning in life before and after the gratitude letter and found significant changes. It was found that students felt more satisfied, found purpose in life, and had a healthier perspective on happiness after giving the letters. Many confessed that the letters brought positive emotions and helped in strengthening their relationships.
This means it works either way; people writing the letters as well as receiving them are positively impacted. The exercise also helped the respondents overcome uncomfortable feelings, provided them with emotional relief, and personal or spiritual growth. It further explains why Giany was so touched to find a letter her grandpa had written to her almost three decades ago.

Meanwhile, Giany's sweet discovery left netizens in awe. @cakeburp commented, "Wow, my dad had the EXACT same handwriting. That’s so special, you should frame it, laminate it, or do something with it." Overwhelmed, @canacassy wrote, "Oh man, I wish I were lucky enough to find something from my grandpa! He passed when I was 14, and I still miss him so much." Similarly, @ashlynnholm shared, "When my grandpa died, I got to go through his things...I found a Valentine's card I had made him when I was 4. He's always been my best buddy. I hope all our gramps are just up there telling each other stories and looking down on their grandkids."
