The most moving love stories are not often told aloud. They are tucked away and discovered years later by accident. That’s what happened when Kayla Stipsits–who goes by @kaylastipsits1 on TikTok–and her family were cleaning out her grandparents’ house and stumbled across something quietly remarkable: a log her grandfather had kept of every date and memory he shared with his wife, Kay, for nearly six decades. The video shows the log Stipsits found while helping clean out her grandparents’ home, listing decades of dates and memories, labeled "Kay memories and dates," that her grandfather Jim had saved in a filing cabinet, as per PEOPLE.

"When girls can barely get a good morning text, but my grandpa documented every memory and date he ever had with my grandma for 60 years," Stipsits wrote in the overlay text. Inside were dozens of entries, each capturing a moment—small and big—between her grandparents. "Over the years, he would write down dates. It radiates the love he had for my grandma, and the fact that he had to probably write it out and then type it all up again is just adorable," she said. Jim and Kay had lived in the same house for 30 years. Stipsits shared that she had always felt the love between them was special. "They helped raise me, and their house was always the place for our traditions. We had Thanksgiving and Christmas there every year, including barbecues. The love just radiates off of them," she added.

Also, the family learned details about the couple’s relationship that had never come up before from Jim’s record-keeping. Her mother found out they got engaged only six months after meeting, something she had never known. And while no one was surprised by the log’s existence, they were deeply moved by it. The last entry in the log was dated 2010, when her grandpa began slowing down. Stipsits said, "My family was in awe of it. No one knew about it, and we were surprised, but we weren't because my grandpa is so organized. I would have asked him questions, so we also were wondering if he wrote it down because of dementia running in that side of the family."

The notes reflected many meaningful moments that the grandparents had together. One entry read, "Made popcorn and did laundry." Others mentioned Kayla’s famous pork chops, the family barbecue pit, and spots around St. Louis that Kayla recognized from her own childhood. Stipsits shared, "When I was going through it, I recognized names. My uncles' names are in there. Some of their best friends for 60 years were there, who helped raise me too." She also said, "If you're really in love with each other, you don't have to do a lot."

Stipsits' video went viral, garnering nearly 11 million views. People on the platform were moved by the quiet devotion Jim’s log revealed. @theoneseedcleaver wrote, "What’s even better is those were all likely handwritten and he took the time later in life to type it and print it." @13311331g added, "Billable hours would hate to see this man coming. This is precious." @annaraybeat commented, "This is like the saying, 'My life flashed before my eyes' but in list form." @tor1m4ck pointed out, "Notice how these are all dates in just one year too." @krispykremeuki said, "How am I ever meant to accept anything other than this now?"
