Woman finds birthday note on a balloon during walk with her dog leaving the internet in tears

A routine walk with a furry friend is usually refreshing, but for Lucy Hannan (@lucy_hannan_ on TikTok), a recent stroll with her dog turned into an emotional experience. While walking at Doncaster Racecourse in the UK, she came across something unexpected: a black balloon with glittering pink numbers celebrating a 50th birthday. It looked like just another piece of litter, but a small, handwritten note tied to the balloon's string caught her eye.

In her video, Hannan is seen picking up the note and reading a heartfelt message from a grieving child to their late mother. The simple words, beginning with "To Mom," expressed a wish to send birthday love up to the heavens, leaving Hannan and many others who saw the post with tearful eyes as they read it all. Though the words written on the card were hard to comprehend, nonetheless, people got the gist of it.

Hannan shared this touching discovery with her followers, and the response was deeply emotional. She captioned her post, "Sending lots of love to whoever wrote this. Appreciate your loved ones every day." She posted it in June this year. It has garnered over 156k views and more than 14k likes, with many people coming together in the comments to help decipher the fading words, moved by the simple yet powerful tribute. "Oh, my heart….. mums should never be taken from their babies… this is my biggest fear! Sending Bubba a hug," said @_familytime_1. "All I do in this app is cry my guts out for strangers," added @yourmom_131131. "I once found one in my backyard and there was an address on it. So, we wrote a card back and put some money in it and sent it to the address," chimed in @jaynaa072. 

Speaking of birthday wishes, we can not leave out a story about a special girl. A heartwarming video shared by u/AmandaKathleen captures a touching moment during a little girl's birthday celebration. As she sits in front of her cake, ready to make a wish, she closes her eyes and blows out the candles. When her adoptive mother asks what she wishes for, the girl sweetly replies, "I wish to stay with this family forever," with a look of pure love and happiness.

The text overlay reads, "Our adopted foster daughter continues to use her birthday wish each year for her own reassurance." Even though her foster family promises her that they are not going anywhere, she still wants to comfort herself that the time with her current family does not end. The video resonated with many viewers, some sharing their own experiences of adoption and the need for reassurance. Amanda responded with hope, saying she looks forward to the day when her daughter’s birthday wish is just for herself, confident that she will always be a part of the family.
