Woman figures out adorably rib-tickling reason why her newly adopted dog has been ignoring her

Dogs are adorable and heartwarming creatures that often account for comfort and warmth. It is unlikely that a dog would be rude to any person trying to show them love or engage with them. However, a woman named Kalee (@kaleemcgee) shared a video on TikTok mentioning that the dog she recently adopted had been ignoring her. She explained that she had adopted a chihuahua and even after a few weeks, she was unable to get the canine to listen to the most basic commands and phrases, turns out there was a baffling reason. 

“This is hilarious and I have no one else to tell so please listen,” Kalee said before she began giving a background of her dog. “We adopted a dog 2-3 weeks ago, a great little chihuahua from the shelter,” she said. Kalee further mentioned that the dog seemed tamed and though they had no information on the little guy, he was just adorable. “He sits when you have a treat in your hand, not when you say sit,” she explained.

The woman shared that his behavior indicated that he had some training but they weren’t able to get him to exercise the same. She added, “We have been trying to get him to sit and stuff for weeks and we can’t figure out why he won’t listen to us.” Kalee then spilled the beans and said that they finally found out why the sweet chap refused to listen.

“We figured it out. He only speaks Spanish,” Kalee remarked, feeling extremely embarrassed. “Our little chihuahua doesn’t know English,” she exclaimed, holding in her laughter. “He’s been looking at us like, ‘What are you talking about!?’” Kalee said. She was too stunned to explain the humor of the situation and decided to demonstrate. She called her chihuahua Max and began speaking with him.

She first said in English, “Max come,” but the dog simply stared at her. “Max aqui,” she said in Spanish and the canine immediately came towards her. Next, Kalee asked Max to “sit,” but the dog wouldn’t listen. “Max sientate,” she said in Spanish and Max, without a question, sat down.

Kalee further requested people to help her out since she didn’t know Spanish and was relying on Google Translate to relay basic commands to Max. “I would love to see how smart this little man is but I just don’t speak his language,” she remarked. People were jaw-dropped at the hysterical turn of events and couldn’t help but bawl in laughter. @cxr helped and said, “‘Afuera’=outside.” @h.h.l suggested, “You can say the word in Spanish and English and eventually he’ll understand.” @pint_size_leah said, “I love it, my cousins just adopted a dog from Japan and are trying to learn Japanese to communicate with him, it’s so funny.” @alexiainstitches offered help saying, “‘Vamos’ means let’s go and ‘Toma’ or ‘ten’ means you’re going to give him some treats. This is incredible!”
