People might expect an employee to sit with their coworkers and socialize, but it might be too much for some of them.
Most people tend to socialize with their co-workers during lunch hours if they work from an office. However, many people also like to take a break to clear their minds and have some time alone to think and process their day. Although it might seem like an anti-social thing, a lot of people must ensure their mental well-being. Jade—who goes by @itsjadebabyy on TikTok—has a similar ritual and shared how she wouldn't want to have lunch with her co-workers under any circumstances.
"I don't know what it says about me as an employee, but I would rather sit in my car on my lunch break than sit in work with all my co-workers and just have lunch with them," Jade stated. "No, like I'd rather sit in my car if it was pouring rain and snowstorms. You won’t catch me in my workplace having my lunch break," she further added as she ate her lunch in the said car while recording the video. The video received over 813k views and more than 68.7k likes. Many people could relate to the woman's situation and took to the comments section of the video to share what they did during their lunch break.

I need time to recharge my social battery i can’t be around people ALL day." @zakkay11 commented, "I go for a walk on my lunch break and my manager is always trying to figure out why I never talk to anyone in the office. Haha, it’s work not family." @bowsert632 remarked, "As a manager, I can say, take your break however and wherever you need or want. After all, it is YOUR break." @knotty_taco expressed, "I like my personal space and don't need to listen to other people. Especially, when they try talking my whole lunch break. Plus nap time!" @lexiethomson1312 shared, "It’s a break from people cause if I can’t decompress for 30 minutes to an hour, I will end up losing my job."
In a video, that has now been deleted the woman shared more thoughts on her lunch break as per Distractify. Jade shared that she has also considered leaving work after lunchtime but unfortunately, she can't do it. "You ever go on your break for work and as you're driving back you think to yourself, 'What would happen if I just didn't go back? Like what if I just went home and took a left instead of a right?'" she pointed out. "But then you're back at work because you have bills to pay," she added.
In another similar story, an employee shared how she can't take a proper lunch break because her boss doesn't pay her enough. Most companies in the US offer their employees a paid one-hour lunch break but it isn't probably true for everyone. The text overlay on the video shared by Ava who goes by @ava_rose02 read, "1 hour for lunch but I take 10-20 minutes because my boss doesn't pay me enough." The video hints that Ava's lunch break is possibly an unpaid one, so she is forced to have her lunch quickly to spend less unpaid time at her workplace.
