People go on dates to find the perfect partner, but one woman used dating apps to build connections that could help her land a job.
People go on dates for various reasons, but most importantly, they seek a perfect partner. However, what if modern dating isn’t just about swiping left and right? A woman has proven this by using quick dating platforms to find opportunities for her professional advancement rather than meaningful romantic connections. While most dating apps are meant for the obvious, one New York City resident took it upon herself to turn them into unique opportunities. Musician and audio engineer Clawde, aka "Coca"—who goes by @clawdez on X (formerly Twitter)—was tired of sending work applications through typical job-hunting platforms. One fine day, through her quick thinking and charm, she took an unusual route to ask people if they were hiring.
In a widely circulating post, Clawde was seen asking men she connected with on Hinge not to go on a date or share their likes and dislikes, but instead to see if they were willing to open new doors for her. With an urgency to get a job, she unapologetically opened up to her online connections about the same. The job seeker revealed multiple screengrabs of their conversations with her, leaving the microblogging platform with a humorous talking point. “I’m done with Indeed applications,” she wrote, referring to the popular employment portal.
Clawde didn’t just stop here. She admitted it was time for her to take charge of the situation. Currently, an intern at an audio engineering company, she explained, “I’m taking matters into my own hands.” Instead of offering the usual greetings to men who liked her pictures on Hinge, the no-nonsense and career-driven woman came straight to the point.
As shown in the screenshots, Clawde asked the men if they had any openings. In one of her private conversations, when someone was trying to be nice to her, she bypassed his well wishes to humorously plug in her real motive for staying on the dating app.

“If I had my way, every day would be Thanksgiving Day,” the man remarked while replying to a mirror selfie uploaded by the musician. Unlike her connection, Clawde skipped the good part and responded, "Hahaha. Are you guys hiring?" The desperate job seeker was seen posing questions similar to those in her other connections. Another screengrab showed a moment when someone liked her studio photo, where she was holding a keyboard while a guitar rested on her back. In response, the musician candidly typed, “Love investment banking, one of my favorite hobbies. Can you get me a job?”

I'm hurting too
After her post managed to strike a chord with many on social media, Clawde followed up with an explanation. Like any classified advertisement, she said, “For anyone in NYC who is hiring, hit me up—currently an intern in audio engineering/studio hand. However, I am willing to learn and do anything. I’m a fast learner, proficient at anything I need to do, and desperate to not starve.” Among the 2.1 million readers who stumbled upon her thread, @LizardDocile suggested, “It's genuinely come to this—nobody is hiring like they say they are.” @drugstoredivas added, “I mean, it’s probably not going to work out from those random likes because I don’t think they’re going to reply in an appropriate way, but this thread going viral is going to land you somewhere. I have a feeling."
