When people buy houses and begin renovations they are sometimes in for a surprise. They end up finding some decades-old items, messages or even new spaces. Erin Cloudy also found something unexpected in her 200-year-old flat in the UK. She discovered a hidden door under the stairs and she shared about it in a TikTok video. Cloudy wanted to add some storage below her stairs but when she started the demo process and found an empty crawl space, she was left stunned.

In the video, she showed on camera how one comes down the stairs of her flat and unexpectedly walks into a crawl space. After coming across the crawl space, she became suspicious and decided to knock down an existing wooden wall to see what was underneath. When she looked through the hole, she saw another set of stairs going down and leading to a door. In the next clip, a man was seen going down those stairs to see what was beneath them. Cloudy followed him and was equal parts excited and nervous. They found some more stairs that were going further down. The man expressed, "It's as big as your flat down here."

The video is captioned, "I bought a 200-year-old flat and found a hidden door under the stairs." People in the comments were quite spooked out with the finding. @halliewilliams31 commented, "So you all never saw the movie Barbarian." @sir.mellodass24 wrote, "Yeah no I would’ve closed that and sold the whole thing, how all scary movies start." @sapphire_l0ves expressed, "Close that hole back up! It’s been sealed for a reason." @kuromikat_8803 said, "This is literally the beginning of the conjuring movie. Board it back up." @lavenderonme commented, "Yeah and every horror movie starts with a dark secret room and staircase that leads you to the hidden basement."

In a follow-up video, Cloudy showed how big of a space it was below her flat. They got in through an old door and the inside space was a huge hall that included a fireplace that was in a bad state. After looking around, she said in the video, “Finally found the secret room.” She explained in the caption, “So my flat is ‘basement flat’ there has been no mention of anything underneath me, verbally or on the deeds. We were curious about storage under the stairs and decided to take a look.” Cloudy even found some tunnels under her flat and she documented them in another video. She used a torch to check out the place. The tunnels were extremely dirty full of rubble and some old items. “This is all underneath me. I’m not going to be able to sleep,” she exclaimed in worry after going through the tunnels.

Some people also warned the woman to check if the space is infected. @shan7285 commented, "Not sure of the age of the property but be careful of asbestos." @codywohlschlegel wrote, "I would suggest getting a home inspector in there to make sure everything looks good." @drewburr6669 shared, "I mean perhaps there’s a reason it’s sealed up other than being decrepit. I would definitely be doing an argon and CO test before you leave that open."
