Going through old family photos might reveal new things for a person or help them know their family's history better. Most of the time pictures are the only way for people to get to know the older generations in their family better. Similarly, a woman learned an interesting thing about herself when she saw a photo of her fourth great-grandma. The person, Lindsay, who goes by @whimsicalartbylinsay on TikTok, took to the platform to share her interesting discovery with people and it is quite surprising.

In the video, Lindsay’s text overlay reads, "Found a photo of my fourth great grandma and I have her face." She first filmed herself, then showed the photo of her ancestor—who truly bore a striking resemblance. The woman captioned the post, "Forever share [love]. My long lost twin from centuries ago." In an interview with Newsweek, Lindsay explained how it all began when she was trying to figure out about her ancestry on her dad's side of the family as she never knew much about it. That's when she came across a photo of her great-grandma, Mary Beckwith. "I went looking through ancestry because I didn't know much about my paternal side other than my grandparents," she shared.

The 28-year-old was quite surprised to find an evident resemblance between herself and her ancestor who lived in the 19th century from 1805 to 1873. "I went looking into that side of my family history and found the picture of my fourth great-grandmother. I was so shocked when I saw her picture, and it made me feel a special connection to her. My friends and family thought the resemblance was uncanny too," Lindsay continued. She also revealed that she hadn't seen such a resemblance with any other family member but now that she has found it, she would like to try and find other family members who might share a face with her as well.

"The reaction since sharing it online has been really amazing, and I'm glad other people are fascinated by it. Seeing so many people react to my grandmother and me is very cool," Lindsay added. "Since the video of my grandmother went viral, I've gotten a lot more followers and eyes on my artwork. I like to think she's helping me on my art journey in some way." The video received 517.7k views and more than 45.4k likes. People took to the comments section to appreciate Lindsay's findings.

Do you have any of her things?" @kristiethewriter commented, "I wish I had somebody like that in my family. I don’t look like anybody. And if it wasn’t for genetic testing, I would think I wasn’t related to any of them, but I am. They all look alike, I don’t." @meganfieldsks remarked, "That is really amazing because they say DNA works its way out after five generations. Hers is strong in you." @kristylove41 shared, "What’s wild is your grandmother looks just like my mother when she was that age. But she was born in 1959." @jillianidiaquez expressed, "I'm the twin to my great grandma. Apparently, I do many things like she did. Strange but comforting."
