Everyone deserves a safe and nurturing space at work and this woman decided to communicate that most hilariously.
One should always avoid working in a toxic workplace, even if it means taking risks such as quitting the said job. While it can be a scary experience to walk away from a toxic job, one should do it to preserve one's overall well-being and career in the long run. A woman on TikTok who goes by @tanyadiestelman took the leap of faith and chose to quit her toxic job. She chronicled her entire journey over a series of videos on TikTok. The first video gained 1.7 million views and 752 comments on the social media platform.
She shares how she had to go into the office for a mandatory work meeting on Zoom. However, everybody else in the meeting was allowed to end remotely, whereas she was forced to show up at the office. The text overlay reads, "When you decide to quit your toxic job," and hints at how this forced attendance led her to think about quitting. The woman posted a second video, where she showcased her letter of resignation.
The letter reads, "I am submitting my resignation as of the end of the day, December 2023. Please forward the final records to my home address. Thanks." It seems to be written down on a card that would be used for a funeral. People found the resignation letter quite hilarious and shared their thoughts in the comments section. @purplecosmichealer said, "Yo, I have my resignation letter ready, but now I wanna do it this way."
She finally decided to post a video after a week to clarify what exactly caused her to quit her job. The woman says that she did leave her job that day and that her employers were "speechless" when they got her resignation letter. She was on her probationary period with the employer and things were just not going well for her at the job. The woman explains, "During a probationary period, it's not only the employer's time to assess you, it's your time to assess them, see what the long-term potential is."
She goes on to highlight how people should be able to recognize red flags that come up during this probationary period and act on them. "If you see things that are gonna hold you back from your greatest potential or make you compromise your values and your integrity, don't do it," she says. The woman is aware that not everyone can afford to walk away from their jobs like she did, but she had another job lined up, which is why she could afford to take a big risk and quit.
The woman concludes the video by thanking all of her viewers for their support. Viewers were quite appalled to know that she quit her job during her probation period and shared their thoughts about that in the comments section. @tikkitok16 said, "Omg, this was only probation???? That's worse than I thought!!" @kamo16398 shared, "Oh, I agree. I resigned after a month. I had to be a good fit for them and them for me and it wasn't."
