Stay-at-home moms rarely get the recognition they deserve for their nonstop work. Many assume it's an easy job, including one woman's brother—until he got a reality check. Reddit user u/mindless_command7079 shared how her brother constantly belittled her role as a stay-at-home mom, so she decided to challenge him to step into her shoes for just one day.

She started by talking about her 26-year-old brother. "He is unmarried and has had a few 'situationships' but isn't a parent and I suspect his attitude is the reason why women won't stick around after a few dates with him," she wrote. On the other hand, she was married and had a 4-year-old daughter and a 19-month-old son. She used to be a teacher, but since her husband had been making good money, they both agreed that she would stay home with the children and the couple had been functioning as a more "traditional household." However, she clarified that the post was not about her husband, a loving father who splits household chores 50-50.

Then she talked about her brother. She shared that he had come over for Christmas with her mother and sister and said he was glad "his sister is fulfilling the biological duty to be a homemaker." She and her husband ignored it because they didn't want to spend the holidays arguing. "That being said, I won't ignore cruelty. I don't want my daughter to think it's okay to be talked down to or my son to think it's okay to speak in a cruel manner towards women," she emphasized. Things got worse when she returned from shopping at Sephora and bought a new hair conditioner. "My brother turned to my husband and said, 'Are you really okay with her spending your money on sh*t like that when CVS has normal shit,'" she revealed.

Her husband responded by saying that his wife did unpaid work and as long as they could afford it, he didn't care where she was buying her conditioner from. She shared, "This sent my brother off. He started yapping about how I didn't work and how taking care of children wasn't that hard. So, I made a bet with him. I bet him that I would return the conditioner to Sephora if he could survive one day as me." Her brother accepted the bet. The parameters of the bet were that she would show him her duties as a stay-at-home mom and he would have to perform them. Moreover, she would be watching him the whole day, but he couldn't ask her for help.

"I told my kiddos that their uncle would be spending the day with them and if they needed anything, to ask their uncle for it. Of course, if they were to come to me for something, I would be there for them, but he would be taking over my role as the primary caregiver," she added. The mother said he woke up by 8:30 in the morning. Her brother started making pancakes for her daughter, who then threw a tantrum because they "looked too much like Mickey Mouse." Meanwhile, her son took off his diaper and dumped his "poopoo" onto the floor. Fed up of it, the woman's brother muttered. "I am never having f***ing kids," then stormed back upstairs to sleep until noon. The mom expressed, "While he didn't acknowledge the bet, he didn't say another fu**ing word to me about how being a SAHM was easy. So, I will take that win."

The post was captioned, "My brother thought being a stay-at-home mom wasn't hard, so I showed him my day." People in the comments loved what the woman did to teach her brother a lesson. u/missanthropic123 commented, "Moms can't give up. He should continue to do easy stay-at-home work for the full 24 hours. Did he even do the dishes? You let him off way too easy!" u/adventure-rice-830 wrote, "This is funny. I expected you to say that after a few hours or maybe half a day, he quit, but I didn't expect he couldn't even make it through breakfast, lol." u/ub1head expressed, "As a stay-at-home-dad who loves my 'non-traditional' (whatever that means) role, I support and endorse this post. Your brother was right about one thing he's never having kids (hopefully)."
