He pointed out that the movie was 'not even that deep,' but she was not convinced

The Devil Wears Prada 2 was released on May 1, and it elicited all sorts of reactions from viewers. Adrian and Tara Thorpe, who go by @meetthethropes on Instagram, shared a video of Tara's reaction immediately after seeing the film in theaters. She was sobbing about how she "wasted" her 20s, wishing she could get it back. Adrian, being the supportive husband that he is, listed some of her achievements to prove that she has spent much of her 20s building a wonderful life with a myriad of accomplishments. They shared the video on May 5, and it received 554,000 views, 36,100 likes, and 683 comments.
After watching "The Devil Wears Prada 2," Tara was going through an existential reflection and said she did not want to die without achieving her dreams. She was bawling her eyes out in the theater while her husband tried to comfort her. Like a lot of soon-to-be-30 folks, Tara also thought she had wasted her 20s after seeing the glamorous lives of Miranda Priestly and Andrea Sachs on screen. Her boyfriend, Adrien, even pointed out that the movie was "not even that deep," but she was not convinced. Tara expressed how she wanted to do more with her life, and without skipping a beat, Adrien had the most wholesome answer ready.

Adrien promptly answered Tara's self-doubt with, "Just think of it. You've lost how much weight, you set your goal, and you did it. You've reached your lowest, you still wanna get even lower." Adrian pointed out her determination to learn a skill all by herself: "You've taught yourself how to edit." He even reminded her of how she hit a professional goal when she built her own business. "You started a business in lockdown, which is still running successfully." And to top it all off, she was thriving in her love life. "You've got a husband who loves you. What more do you want?" he asked. Adrian added with humor, "How greedy, how bloody greedy," and she started laughing along with him.
Having a spouse who can motivate and reassure you in moments of doubt can make a huge difference and is also a sign of a healthy marriage. A 2024 Pew Research Center survey found that 74% of American adults often turn to their spouses for emotional support. Moreover, men and women are just as likely to say they would rely on their spouse or partner for this kind of support. How they feel things have also changed over the past 20 years when it comes to having someone for emotional support. Overall, most believe both men and women are in a better place today than they were two decades ago.

Many of the people in the comments were impressed by how Adrian handled the situation and praised him for making Tara feel seen. On the other hand, a few other comments could relate to Tara's reaction after watching the film. @iamdominiquedanielle wrote, "I left that theater rethinking my life too." @ambdotcom commented, "Sometimes us girlies in our 30s need to remember that hindsight is 20/20! You bring so much joy to so many people around the world every single day. Remember, you’re still young."
