The excited man cheerfully showed off his grooving skills at a Salsa place and not only the onlookers but many on the internet were stunned.
Many in the world are quite preoccupied with aging, but some prove that "age is just a number." It takes a delightful soul to remind others that the years one has accumulated are nothing if their mind is still young. Experiencing life, pursuing passions and nurturing relationships might be the key to staying young for decades and some people embrace this aspect of life. Recently, one such individual went viral on social media for his remarkable dance moves at a Salsa place. Madison Watkins, a singer and Salsa dance lover–who goes by @madisonwatkins on TikTok–revealed her "young" Salsa partner and the internet loves him.
As the video begins, we can see Watkins eagerly looking for someone in what appears to be an entertainment venue. The camera then pans toward an old man, 76-year-old Juan Pero, who was squinting his eyes unable to make out who was approaching him. When he realized it was Watkins, his excitement peaked and he gave her a hug. It turns out he was Watkins' favorite dance partner and so she mentioned in the text overlay, "You're not sad. You just need to find a dance partner 3x your age." While Pero might look like a man who can barely walk, he left the onlookers jaw-dropped with his stylish Salsa moves.
Watkins and Pero danced their hearts out with their peppy yet graceful Salsa steps and their co-ordination was on point. Pero even showed off some of his solo moves and it's safe to say that many eyes were on this lively pair. His shiny shoes and surprisingly energetic legs graced through the dance floor so effortlessly that one would mistake him for a younger man. No wonder this video garnered over 2.3 million views in less than four months and the duo's infectious energy left the internet swooning over them.
For 29-year-old Watkins, it was an instant spark of friendship when she first met Pero in a Salsa place in Nashville. While Pero only spoke Spanish, the language barrier never stopped him from acing his Salsa dance with Watkins. "Now when I see him, I run to him and give him a big hug every time. I feel like Juan and I have a secret dance language we speak with each other. We always know what the other person is going to do and have some choreography we didn't plan, but it looks planned because we are so in sync," Watkins told Newsweek. Now, the pair meet every Thursday for their weekly dose of Salsa. For the singer, making friends with people from different generations, like Pero, was a good learning experience about life.
"You are keeping him young and it's precious. The way he's living his best and ate!" exclaimed @clevelandcraft. "Yes! He started with that shoulder shimmy and my heart just burst," said @aloha_heals. "These men taught me to dance! Always respectful, patient and the best dancers," mentioned @phenomlatinarn. "I had an older gentleman (70s maybe) approach me at a swing dance and I was so nervous because it was my first time, but he swept me away. He was an incredible lead, so much fun and so sweet too," chimed in @magpiebee.
