Lexee (@lexeetraas) was left questioning the character of modern-day men when she bumped into one at a bar while partying with her girlfriends. He was a surgeon. They recognized each other from Instagram, where they had been chatting for a while. Their eyes met, their arms entwined with each other, and they spent the rest of the night dancing, canoodling, and talking. The following day, however, suspicion sprang up and soon turned into a haunting apprehension. A woman messaged Lexee, saying that the man was her boyfriend. Traumatized to their core, both women planned to get the truth out of him. One question about the name of his car threw him off guard, and he confessed to his skulduggery. Lexee shared the episode in a 2-part TikTok video series, which has since been viewed more than 227,000 times.

A night to remember

Being a single mom, Lexee doesn’t get to go out much. So, the other night, when she went out with her girlfriends, they decided to visit a local bar to have drinks after dinner. She was dancing with the girls when a man walked up to her. At first, she dismissed his presence, but it didn’t take long for her to realize that he was the same man she had been flirting with on Instagram. “Serendipitous,” she thought. She felt like her date was finally here, and she didn’t need to sign up for another dating app. He too seemed interested in her. When the girlfriends went to another spot, he followed them and offered to drop Lexee home.

Too good to be true

Till 5 am the following morning, they sat in his car, talking and sharing intimate moments. The fact that a handsome doctor had so much emotional depth and was continuously complimenting her revived her wildest pipe dreams. Then they spent some time in her house and parted. The following day, she texted him, and all of a sudden, her fantasies came crashing down. He left her on read. To intensify her suspicions, she received an Instagram message from an unknown woman who identified herself as the doctor's girlfriend. At first, Lexee chose to ignore it out of disbelief, but something in her gut prompted her to respond. When they started exchanging information, it turned out that the doctor had been dating this woman since September of the previous year.

Why are people like this?

Only a few days earlier, he had taken the woman on a birthday date and gifted her a handwritten card. The evidence was clear and solid, and it left both women devastated. So they planned to get even with this man. They pored over all the information to find a loophole that could get him busted. They found one. The doctor had made a slippery mistake. He had promised both of them that he would name his new car after them and that they would then spend intimate moments in the car.

His girlfriend confronted him with an iconic question: “When were you gonna tell me that you changed the name of your car?” At first, he played dumb, then confessed that bonding with Lexee was just a moment of weakness and not a real connection. Worse still, more than feeling ashamed or apologetic, the man was more concerned about his reputation. He insisted that Lexee keep him out of the public eye on this matter. “For as smart as some men are, they are so stupid,” Lexee remarked later.

When trust breaks down

Suspicions can change a relationship, too. A 2024 study published in Family Process examined 236 couples and found that both reported extramarital sex and suspicions of a partner's infidelity were associated with lower relationship satisfaction. In Lexee's case, the girlfriend's suspicions quickly turned into something more concrete when the two women compared what the surgeon had told them. The car detail became the clue that exposed the contradiction — and left him with nowhere to hide.

'Lesson is: stick with the girls'

Lexee’s video stirred a hot discussion on dating men these days. Many viewers speculated on how many men are living double lives. @akebe1234 remarked, “Iconic response on your part!” @kirish525 cautioned, “Lesson is stick with the girls and make him ask you out another night! Don’t ever ditch the girls for a man!” @kristenhi5 commented, “This is why they’ve demonized gossip. Because it was never just idle chatter, ladies.”
