Woman came home after a weekend away to find their photos and Dyson hidden — months later, his Oculus revealed a Bumble message

This is something Mel never thought would happen. 'He didn't even have time to brush his teeth some morning. He was always behind on his to-do list,' she said

Mel (@melissashannonn89)’s fiancée was too busy even to brush his teeth, so it never crossed her mind that he could do what he did. But the other day, when she returned home after visiting her sick parents, she noticed her Dyson Airwrap under the bed instead of on it, and her makeup accessories tucked behind towels. When she saw the footage from Meta Oculus glasses, she stumbled upon a message that was irrefutable proof that he was cheating on her. Her September 7, 2026 TikTok video has been viewed 1.1 million times.

Totally unexpected

This is something Mel never thought would happen. Since her fiancée worked in finance, she never thought he even had time to cheat. “He didn't even have time to brush his teeth some morning. He was always behind on his to-do list,” Mel described. She often talked about his three sisters, who discussed how cheating is such a dreadful and wrong act. So, when she found out her fiancée was cheating, it was a weird circumstance.

Clues piling up

Mel's parents were sick, and she would travel from New York to Massachusetts to care for them. One time, when she returned from such a trip, she found some discrepancies in her house. For instance, a sign that spelled her name was tucked away in his closet. A picture of Mel and her grandmother was missing from its shelf. The pictures on the refrigerator and the bulletin board were gone as well.

In the bedroom, her Dyson Airwrap and hair products had been shoved under the bed. In the bathroom, her makeup brushes, calendar, and tampons were hidden behind towels on the shelf. “I was like, what the hell? Did he have someone over?” Mel speculated and added, “It still was clear a girl lived there, but the relationship was kind of sanitized.”

Excuse for everything

When Mel confronted her fiancé, he had an excuse for everything. He told her things like he was laminating the photos, fixing the drywall, watering the plants, and that the sign just fell off. He started playing the victim by saying he was stressed at work and he didn’t expect to come home and hear these arguments against him. The following day, after Mel returned from a walk, all the things had been put back. When she asked, he told her that they were just around the desk, which was unbelievable. Red flags were popping up. His location would suddenly go off, and he would excuse it by saying there was a Wi-Fi problem in his office building.

Bolt from the blue

The other night, when she initiated intimacy, he refused and instead said he wanted to play ping pong. Before he went to sleep, he had accidentally left his Meta Oculus glasses on the sofa. When she put the goggles on, she realized he had followed a lot of girls on Instagram and thirst trap accounts, contrary to what he had told her, that he didn’t use Instagram much. When she scrolled down, she found a message from the Thanksgiving weekend when she was out with her family. “Hey, Alejandra, we matched on Bumble. I'm free this weekend if you want to hang,” he had written to a girl. It was from the same day when they had gone on a romantic date.

So six months before the wedding, Mel was left grappling with dissonance. “I just felt like everything that I thought was real, like I thought we were in a loving relationship. And I thought that we were going to spend our lives together. And I was just absolutely shattered,” she described. Afterward, they sat day in and day out to discuss it, but like the first time, he constantly kept on making excuses and shrugging away the clues with some logic.

Social media as a hub of cheaters

Just as Mel found out about his cheating on Instagram, social media has become a pivot for cheaters to carry on with their affairs. For instance, according to a Gitnux survey cited by CheatScanX, social media plays a direct role in 38% of the affairs, and 45% of unfaithful partners use it as their primary communication tool. On the flip side, 41% of women go on to discover a cheating spouse by snooping through mobile phones, per a study by OurTime, cited by The Standard. The survey found that going through your partner’s social media account is the second most favourite way to discover a cheating spouse at 23%.

Gaslighting at its finest

Viewers were convinced from the story that Mel’s fiancée was cheating, and they warned her to stay away from the man and not marry him. @dragonfly_atx commented, “He’s 100% cheating. Do not marry him. Do not stay with this man. He’ll be a lifetime of misery.” @accidentally_amy said, “Being cheated on changes you as a person. For life. And I feel like that’s not talked about enough.”
