Australian podcaster Mandy Catalano rang her mother to prove a point and it resonated with many.
Have you ever encountered people so talkative that they hardly let the other person talk? While they might irritate most people with their annoying habit, sometimes it is also funny to watch them blabber nonstop. Right? Mandy Catalano, an Australian podcaster who goes by @amanda.catalano on TikTok, shared a hilarious clip of her Italian mother's constant nattering ability during one Setting The Brow Low podcast episode.
"So, whenever I am on the phone with my ethnic mother, Maria, she literally jumps from one topic to the next without me saying a word in between," Catalano explained as her co-hosts, Sam and Jesse, listened in total disbelief. From the moment Catalano called her mother to the very end, it was only Maria who talked the entire time without letting her daughter say a single word. "Oh! Amanda, I was thinking, 'No caller ID, who the hell is this? I answered it, and I thought it would be you,'" Catalano's mother began and continued with her chatter without pausing for a reply. Furthermore, when Catalano asked her mother what she was doing, Maria casually ignored the question and instead explained why she missed her call—an entirely different topic.
Further, "Tomorrow morning I can come; I don’t have to go to Michael’s," Catalano's adorable mother shared. Without waiting for her daughter to ask why she was not going to Michael’s, Maria immediately explained, "I don’t have to go to Michael’s, he’s gone to Queensland for the day, because he’s got to look at this freakin’ car and he said to me, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ Laura’s going to drop the kids off at Teresa’s or whatever. She’s gonna pick them up. I’ll go on Friday morning instead, so that’s okay. I’ll bring my mop."
While Catalano, who was well aware of her mother's habit, did not seem surprised, the co-hosts, Sam and Jesse, struggled to control their laughter. Sharing the video, the content creator asked people if their mothers had the same habit of constant nattering and wrote, "Does anyone else’s mum do this?" in the caption.
Meanwhile, reacting to the clip, @l.a.fraser commented, "My Scottish mum was like this. I once put the phone down for ten minutes while I was getting a sofa delivered, and she didn't notice me missing. She passed away 2 years ago. Miss her chats!" @krasimirdimitrov72 wrote, "That's literally my aunt, I usually leave her on speaker and just continue gaming and every 15-20 min give her an 'aha' just so she knows I'm still there." @genebk commented, "I mean… that’s an amazing skill! She’s never bored, she can have an entire conversation with herself without any problem." @davidjozey commented, "She only said 'Mom', then Maria jumped from (no caller ID) to (I'll to Michael's) to (Michael is gone to queens Land) to (I'll bring my mop)." @iammissjasmine commented, "The way she said she was bringing the mop and asked you what you wanted her to do then literally spoke as if you told her to just use your mop." @gilliandiggin wrote, "My mother is Irish, does the same thing, launches into a monologue and sometimes I just have to shout 'stop talking,' drives me insane."
