The woman gave a fitting lesson to a racist guy who belittled her ethnicity after she failed to recognize the name of the world's first satellite.

Sometimes, we encounter racism that leaves us with nothing but bitterness. Reddit user u/coconut-sweet shared one such experience where she was humiliated because of her ethnicity. However, nearly a year later, she got the chance to turn the tables and teach the man a well-deserved lesson. In her post, she explained that she lives in a diverse country and works in a multicultural environment.

The incident took place at a house party when an Iranian colleague, referred to as "L," brought up "Sputnik." The woman, who is Latina, asked what "Sputnik" was, prompting L to respond condescendingly, “Oh my god, you don’t know what Sputnik was? Latinos are so self-centered they only study their own country. Do you even know what the Cold War was?” L exclaimed condescendingly out loud in front of everyone. The woman tried to explain that she indeed studied what the Cold War was and that the education Latinos receive is generally more Eurocentric.

"I just didn’t know that was the name of the first satellite of the space race. He wouldn’t listen. I tried to speak to him in private a week later. I told him I didn’t like his comment etc. to which he replied 'Why don’t you just admit you don’t know politics already?'" the post continued. "We are at another house party a year later playing mime game. The mime is Russian so I jokingly said every Russian word I know, like 'Glasnost' and 'Perestroika' I learned at school. 'What’s that?' asks L." The woman found the perfect opportunity to fire back and parroted the same thing he told her a year ago.

"I couldn’t resist saying, 'You don’t know what 'Glasnost' and 'Perestroika' are? Iranians are so self-centered. Do you even know what the Cold War was?' He complained I was a bad person who held a grudge for no reason but I didn’t care. It just felt so good," the post concluded. The Reddit community appreciated her for executing a fitting plan against L's racist nature and conveyed that she shouldn't feel sorry about it. u/OrangesAreBerries mentioned, "In Iran, we practice something called 'taarof.' It’s a form of social etiquette that promotes politeness and equality, and Iranians take it very seriously. Suffice it to say, this guy is not invited to his next family gathering."

u/amithecrazyone69 remarked, "Damn, I wouldn’t have done that to you in the first place, but if you did that to me in retaliation, I'd totally smirk at you and say touché for beating me at my own game. What a sore little loser." u/Titariia shared, "Reminds me of my crazy neighbor. She's always yelling that she's calling the police (for me looking outside my window or telling her to pick up her dog poop in the shared garden for example) but when I went to the police because her daughter scratched our car on purpose, she was whining about how we could report her to the police." u/bexu2 added, "The fact that he knows you held a grudge shows he remembered trying so hard to diss you a year earlier. Just a desperate guy trying to prove his worth by trampling on others. This was such a delicious moment of revenge!"
