That day, Elizabeth understood that a relationship doesn't necessarily end because of big fights. 'Tiny moments' give away the real personality

Elizabeth (@elizabethdese) from Nigeria had been dating someone for over a year. They seemed like a perfect match; in fact, everyone thought they would end up together. However, a seemingly 'small' incident at a vendor's shop changed their equation forever. Elizabeth opened up about her breakup in a now-deleted Twitter post shared on March 16.
We dated for a year. Everyone believed we would end up together.

One evening, we went shopping for food. The vendor accidentally gave him extra change.
I noticed it straight away.
He counted the money, smiled… and said nothing.
I said, “You know she gave you too much.”

Once, Elizabeth had gone shopping with her ex-boyfriend. There, the vendor accidentally gave him extra change, and instead of returning it, he just smiled and kept it. Confused, Elizabeth confronted her ex-boyfriend. "You know she gave you too much," she asked him, while he just shrugged and responded, "Her mistake." It may appear as a very small incident, but in that moment, Elizabeth learned something far more profound.
"Suddenly, I realized: If someone can comfortably take what isn’t theirs from a stranger… One day, they might do the same to you," she explained. That day, Elizabeth understood that a relationship doesn't necessarily end because of big fights; in fact, sometimes "tiny moments" lead you to clarity and change how you feel about that person forever. Breakups are often painful, but sometimes two people are better apart.

For instance, AskMen partnered with Cosmopolitan for a survey (Great Male Survey) of nearly 80,000 people. Researchers found that 48% of men would call it off if their partner gained weight. But as compared to men, only 20% of women surveyed said they would leave their partners if they gained weight.
Your reason is valid. No matter how broke you are, never take what doesn’t belong to you

And you allowed him go with the change?? I will call the shop owners attention to it and scold him later on our way home

Meanwhile, reacting to the X story, @oreofe_06 commented, "Character reveals itself in the smallest moments. If someone is comfortable benefiting from a stranger’s mistake, it tells you a lot about how they see fairness." Similarly, @vian337 said, "Character refers to the moral, mental, and ethical qualities distinctive to an individual or place, a person in a literary/media work, or a letter/symbol in writing. It defines the core nature, personality, reputation, or role of something, often highlighting unique or essential traits. Thank goodness you left."
@antonio19xy, who had a different opinion, said, "I think what ended this relationship wasn't that tiny issue but the fact that you didn't love him hard enough to try and fix it. If something like this can end the relationship, then you simply were never going to work out because you weren't willing to try." @nnorukaobianuju said, "I would have left him, too. I wouldn't want him to pass on thieving genes to my unborn kids. That s*** is genetically transmittable."
