Life happened and the best friends had to live far apart. But the extent of love and care they have for each other didn't fade.
Probably the only relationship in the world that knows no bounds would be friendship. Even thousands of miles between two best friends would not be enough to shake the foundation that they have built. Yes, the distance might test their connection, but no, it can't break them. From virtual hangouts to surprise care packages, these friendships remind us that love and laughter can bridge any gap. It's safe to say that the relationship between lifestyle content creator Becca (who goes by @beccaandroses on TikTok) and her best friend is one such solid friendship.
This September, Becca shared a poignant video where she reads a message from her long-distance best friend and it's left us dewy-eyed. "So, I've had the same best friend since we were 12 years old. Unfortunately, after college, my life went this way, and her life went that way," Becca explained. With life coming in their way, the duo had to become long-distance best friends for years. So, Becca's best friend wanted to address the heartache of living away from her. "You're meant to be there and I'm meant to be here. But my God, wouldn't it be sweet if here and there could merge?" the message reads.
The best friend didn't want to keep sending "Thinking of you," texts and exchanging memes, which Becca confirmed they do quite often. She instead wanted to "pop over" to Becca's home with some freshly baked banana bread when Becca would brew some tea and the two could spend some quality time. "Or I'd just be there while you fold laundry and you'd be here while I clean out my closet and we take for granted the fact that we hug any time we want," the message continued. With her voice breaking and tears filling her eyes, Becca read her best friend's thoughtful words about what the two would be doing if they lived near each other.
She couldn't help but admit that she was getting emotional. "But instead our hugs are infrequent and long and bittersweet because we know how rare they are now. And we thank God for FaceTime and voice notes even though we don't use them as much as we'd like," the message reads. Finally, the long-distance best friend concludes by saying, "And every day our friendship reminds me just how wide my heart is capable of stretching all the way from here to there and how lucky I am to have a love that withstands distance." Becca hopes everyone finds a best friend like hers who can make them cry with poignant texts like these. "Don't take your relationships for granted," she added in the caption.
The video garnered over three million views in less than a month and people were deeply moved by the women's friendship. "Girl, that’s your soulmate. Mine’s long distance too. Love their love," said @kourtniefaith. "Bawling with you because friendships like that are rare and pure and must be protected at all costs," remarked @hardworking_crybaby. "I was lucky enough to sit and fold laundry with a dear friend when on a quick visit recently, and had similar thoughts - those small, simple tasks made better by friendship and support," added @leiferwomann.
