In March, Noah Pilato (@noah_pilato5) overheard a woman telling a bartender about her man who flirted with one of her friends while she was in the bathroom. He did not know that the two women were friends. Instead of letting him get away with it, the woman and the bartender concocted a plan to give him the biggest 'ego hit.' Pilato shared the video on April 1, 2026 and it received 4.6 million views, 396,000 likes, and 3,048 comments.
A declined card is the biggest 'ego hit'
Pilato was sitting at the bar when the girl came up, looking visibly upset. The bartender asked her what was wrong, and she divulged the whole story about this man she had been seeing for a few weeks, who hit on her friend. The bartender, clearly a girl's girl, was ready to help her with anything. Something devious hatched in her mind when the girl said, "How about this? I'm gonna go grab him, tell him I need a drink. We're gonna come back up. When he hands me his card to buy the drinks, just say it's declined. If he hands you another card, tell him all of his cards are declining."
Pilato, who overheard everything, began laughing. The two women noticed him, and he immediately defended himself, "I'm sorry. That's hilarious, because as a guy, I'm telling you that it's such a small thing, but that would hit f*cking deep. That would be the biggest ego hit of all time."
Another man paying for drinks is embarrassing
The woman decided to make it worse for her date, and asked if Pilato would offer to pay for their drinks when his cards declined. He was more than happy to be included in this "act of girlhood." The woman ordered her drink, and when it was time to pay, the bartender acted her part perfectly. When the man tried to pay with a second card, the bartender said, "All of your cards are declining. What are you gonna do? You're not gonna make her pay for the drinks, are you?"
That was when Pilato swooped in like a knight in shining armor and offered to pay for their drinks. The man, embarrassed, had nothing to say and brushed it off with a small "whatever." He ducked into the bathroom after, and Pilato venmoed the girl back the man's money. He concluded, "It was such a low-key, small plan, but that guy's gonna think about that for the rest of his life."
Becoming a girl's girl
Dr. Kate Phelps, a sociology professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, defined the meaning of a 'girl's girl. She told ELLE magazine, "A ‘girl’s girl’ is a girl who prioritizes her female friendships, or she’s more girl-oriented — it’s a priority rather than a 'guy’s girl' or a 'pick-me girl,' [who] is the girl who is not like other girls." Girlguiding surveyed more than 2,500 girls aged seven to 21.
The findings include 62% who felt safer with just girls and 70% who supported another girl/young woman who may have experienced misogyny or sexism. Thankfully, the term is not limited to just girls. In this scenario, Pilato was also considered to be a girl's girl for doing his part in helping the woman who was humiliated by the man.
