Woman believed boyfriend ‘left his phone in the car’ whenever his location changed inside his building — then his 'ex' sent her a DM
Victoria Moessner said there were many red flags from the start, but she ignored all those
There is a special kind of emotional whiplash one feels when realizing the romance they thought was blooming was built on pure deception. When Victoria Moessner (@badkidfaedrag) met a seemingly cute guy on Instagram, she thought that even though he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, he was potentially a good match. So much so that she accepted his excuses when, night after night, his phone’s location showed him somewhere else, and he claimed to have left it in his car. That illusion shattered one day when she received a text from his ex-girlfriend. She later shared the full story in a video series on July 7, 2026, which has since garnered more than 140,000 views and over 12,700 likes combined.
A promising online spark
The dynamic initially took shape after Moessner crossed paths with this man online. She found herself attracted to the man despite warning signs right out of the gate. Upon visiting his apartment, she learned about his mental health condition and ended up excusing his dysfunction. "I thought he was really cute," she recalled, admitting that sympathy took over when he leaned into his struggles. Over time, their romance developed rapidly, moving back and forth between their apartments, with him even telling Moessner that he loved her.
Suspicions start to arise
Shortly after the man's candid confession, which even led to him calling Moessner his girlfriend, things began to take a turn. Strange details began surfacing on his GPS tracker, which he had willingly shared with her. It placed him in an entirely different part of his complex late at night. "He would tell me that he left his phone in the car," she noted. Although it called for a confrontation, Moessner decided to give the man the benefit of the doubt.
4th of July antics
The breaking point, however, arrived just ahead of the 4th of July holiday weekend when Moessner brought him as her plus-one to her family's private getaway. Throughout the day, the man stayed glued to his phone, secretly telling another woman that Moessner's family estate was actually "his father's property." Nonetheless, following this, the pair returned to her place to watch movies and share food before he departed for the night. Despite some minor hiccups, the relationship up until this point was going pretty well.
That illusion crumbled the following morning when she woke up to a message from his alleged ex-girlfriend. "And come to find out, they're dating," she revealed after reading the message. It was at this moment that she realized that her boyfriend had been playing her all along. Furious at the manipulation and stranded with a broken car that he had only damaged and failed to fix, Moessner borrowed her grandmother's car and drove sixty miles to confront him.
Joining forces at the door
Moessner arrived at the complex where her best friend Bethany resided, only for an absurd coincidence to come to light during her being on a phone call with the man's other girlfriend. "And that's when I found out that she lives in the same building," Moessner said. Stunned by this revelation, she quickly began connecting the dots. In the meantime, the other girlfriend was equally baffled by this, as both of them realized that he had been feeding them completely different realities. So, they decided to turn the tables on this guy, teaming up right in front of his residence and exposing him.
Truth always finds a way
Well, as it turns out, no one can keep truth hidden for long. According to a YouGov poll, 81% of Americans want to find out whether their partner is cheating or not. Out of these people, a striking 57% have found out about their partner's infidelity. Yet only 29% of Americans report being dumped by their partner after they cheated on them with someone else. Additionally, 43% of people also confirmed that they've been falsely accused of cheating.

The people, on the other hand, praised Moessner for how well she managed the situation, especially for giving the other woman grace. @fwenchfrie223 noted, "Proud of you for giving her grace." Meanwhile, @updownthacrazyghost commented, "I'm so sorry you went through this and am SUPER proud of both of you girls for recognizing he was the villain and deciding to handle this as a team! I get the initial rage out; I also understand how difficult it is to recognize mid-crash that you're mad at the wrong person and changing course! BRAVO!!!!!!!"
