At 12:30 am, she had to step out of bed and ask her neighbor to turn down the noise. What she found outside her door the next morning was unexpected.
Many of us are guilty of keeping our TV sets' volume so loud that it disturbs our neighbors, especially during game night when one tends to go overboard out of excitement to show support for their favorite teams. Similarly, a woman found herself on the receiving end when her neighbor’s home turned into a stadium late at night. The woman—who goes by u/operarose on Reddit—had to get out of bed in the middle of the night and go upstairs to ask for some peace. She shared her bittersweet experience during the recently concluded Super Bowl LIX event on the social media platform.
It began when the woman was forced to wake up due to the unbearable noise coming through her apartment’s ceiling. As she opened her eyes to the booming sound, she could hear music coming from her neighbor’s unit. “I had to get out of bed and go upstairs to ask my neighbor—whom I had never actually met—to lower the noise,” she wrote in the caption, further adding that her sleep was shattered at around 12:30 am. Although it was already a bit awkward for her to knock on a neighbor’s door at an inappropriate time, it felt even more so since she had never met him.
The woman was initially skeptical about doing so and kept ignoring the loud noise until it reached a boiling point. Additionally, she hinted at her fixed morning schedule in the comments, which probably made the situation worse for her. On the contrary, her neighbor had no idea that his late-night binge-watching had become a pain point for others. Once the woman brought up the issue with her neighbor, she didn’t expect it to be resolved so easily, with so little effort.
“I spoke to him entirely through his Ring camera, which was perfectly fine. Dude was super polite,” she emphasized, per her comment.
To take control of the situation, all it took for her was to initiate a conversation with her neighbor and, of course, bear the temporary inconvenience of stepping out of bed. “Based on the type and level of noise coming through my ceiling, I suspect he and/or the missus may have been doing a little more than just watching Super Bowl recaps, but hey, who hasn't gotten a little schwifty and had some loud fun on game night?” she explained in the comments. To her surprise, she found a fine bottle with a heartwarming message on her doorstep the very next day. “I found this outside my door when I woke up,” she remarked in the caption, sharing a picture of the wine.
The handwritten note tied to the bottle read: “Good morning, I got too carried away with watching recaps from the Super Bowl, and I didn't realize how loud my TV was. I'm sorry for not being considerate of the volume. In positive news, the cookies y'all made for Christmas were amazing! Please allow me to return the favor.”
The woman’s wholesome post managed to draw widespread reactions on social media. u/One-little-pig said, “Congratulations to both of you for spontaneously demonstrating how to adult. This is how all interactions should be, with each taking responsibility.” “The main thing is that he apologized,” u/whimsicaltiide stressed.
