Woman asks mom if she’d parent her differently if given a change leaving everyone stunned

Parents share a special bond with their children that no other relationship can replicate, as it has a strong foundation built with trust and love for one another. Despite many of us having differences with our parents, deep down, all of us might find that their guidance and support help us choose the right path in life. However, a mom was asked whether she’d do anything different if given a second chance to raise her kid. Her response left the internet stunned, as per a widely circulating Instagram video posted by the woman’s daughter, Jess Li (@movetruebyjess).

As part of a new mini-series “My Mighty Mom” started by Jess, the content creator herself can often be seen discussing matters of importance with her mother. “I asked my mom if she would do anything differently if she could start over as a parent,” the footage started with the text overlay. Like always, Jess’s mom came up with the most humbling response containing a message for young parents who are still struggling to nurture their kids.

“I will spend more time, quality time with my daughter,” the professional dancer’s mother came straight to the point. She further expressed, “When Jess was young, I should have praised her enough, and extended affirmation when needed. Also, I should have paid attention to my daughter's feelings and analyzed why she used to behave the way she did.” It is important for parents to find the root cause of their kids’ behavior instead of judging them, the elderly lady suggested.

Meanwhile, Jess, who recently went through a divorce and a bitter end to her dance partnership, found the interactions with her mom “very healing.” Following this, Jess claimed that she discovered her “Inner Child” for the first time after the heartbreaking incident. Jess’s mom emphasized the impact of childhood wounds and struggles influencing our lives as adults.

“These are realizations I have come to after Jess’s departure. We were in survival mode: complete the tasks at hand, seek new employment if laid off, acquire a house, and pay the mortgage, all in hopes of providing a good material standard for my children,” the mom added. Furthermore, she acknowledged not being able to rally around her daughter when the latter needed it the most emotionally.

Jess’s mom questioned herself: “But the thing is, how about mental, psychological, and spiritual issues? Those are things we didn't have much time to talk about,” remarked the woman. She wished to be around Jeff and look after her mental well-being. “If I can start over, I will do that,” the artist’s mother concluded in the footage.

Additionally, Jess lauded her mom for the latter's honesty and heart-to-heart interaction. “I am very blessed and grateful that my mom is still around to have these conversations with me and that she is loving, humble, open, reflective, and honest,” the caption with the video read, inviting reactions from viewers who showered their love by liking it 170,153 times.

“I don’t know your mother, but she brought healing to the inner child in all of us,” commented @ananda_kasha. Adding to it, @brooklyn.savage89 wrote, “This is why I don’t have anger toward my mom. She was so busy trying to provide that she didn’t have time to do all the things I needed from her.” “My mom apologized to me for all her shortcomings. That made me cry,” @johanjohari65 said.
