A husband is expected to support his wife in public, especially when she feels uncomfortable. But one man revealed his true priority when his female coworker snapped at his wife. He usually picked up his wife from work on the way home. But recently, his female colleague joined them since they were going the same way. The problem was that she always sat in the passenger seat, which the wife believed was her designated spot. One day, the wife ordered her to move, and the colleague fired back. The story was shared on Call The Girls Podcast (@callthegirlspodcast) on September 8, 2026, and it had 5.9 million views, 258,000 likes, and 23,900 comments.

Embarrassed by wife

The man explained that since his female colleague got in the car before his wife, she sat in the passenger seat. But the wife felt that the seat belonged to her. He said, "Every time she gets to the car, she expects my colleague to climb out and move to the back. She makes a massive deal out of it." One day the wife "straight-up ordered" the colleague to move to the back, and because the latter did not want any drama, she obliged. The man did not say anything either, but he was extremely embarrassed by his wife's actions.

Supporting the wrong woman

A few days later, the wife expected the colleague to move on her own after being told several times. Apparently, the colleague had "reached her limit," and when she was asked to move, she looked his wife "dead in the eye" and said, "Madam, this is not your car, so stop being so childish. I know he is your husband, but he is the only one with the right to ask me to move. And as for the backseat, I'm not sitting there today unless he tells me to."

Instead of calling out his colleague for speaking to his wife that way, he said, "Honestly, hearing her say that felt amazing. I didn't interfere. I just watched. My colleague was making total sense. It's not a big deal, but my wife was making a mountain out of a molehill." His wife couldn't believe what she heard, and the fact that he didn't defend her enraged her further. She refused to get inside the car, took a bus home, and gave him the silent treatment.

Work spouses

The man did not reveal much about his relationship with his coworker, but his refusal to call her out when she crossed a line left people wondering if there was something more going on between them. Marilyn Whitman, a professor at the University of Alabama, described a "work spouse" as a "platonic, intimate relationship between two colleagues that is characterized by high levels of disclosure and support, trust, loyalty, and respect." A survey by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), cited by Forbes, discovered that 25% of employees have had a work spouse.

Additionally, a Forbes survey found that 40% of employees have cheated on their partner with a coworker. Judging by the way he supported his colleague, he seemed to prefer her more than his own wife.

People were shocked by the colleague's audacity to talk to the wife the way she did and assumed something was going on between the man and her. @monica_k_71 asked, "So, when did the affair start, before or after the 'car rides' began?" @alex__patino wrote, "Bro, that coworker is stirring up sh*t and the husband needs to grow a spine."
