Woman apologizes to the mailman by preparing special surprise and the internet is loving it

Mail carriers are an important part of our society. So, when they get angry for the right reason, it is not wrong to make them feel better and ask for their forgiveness. Similarly, to ensure that the mailman got the apology he deserved, Tori Halford—who goes by @torihalford on TikTok—went above and beyond to surprise him. She made a video to document how she surprised her mailman, Daniel, with a sweet apology after she went on a vacation and forgot to put her mail on hold.

As a result, Daniel was left to deal with stuffing all the overflowing packages in Halford's mailbox. "My mailman is definitely mad at me and rightfully so. Today, we're going to be making him a little gift basket and putting it in the mailbox to butter him up a little and say I'm sorry," she said while recording the video from her car. Halford ended up at Target and purchased some snacks and energy drinks that she could place in the gift basket. There were some Doritos and Goldfish crackers too. However, when she returned home, she faced the problem of finding the perfect spot to place the gift basket for Daniel.

"So I just got to our mailbox and we do have a slight issue that I probably should have calculated. So, in our neighborhood, we don't have physical mailboxes at every single house. We just have these big lockers and the packages will go into these bigger ones. That's why they get full so easily because they can really only fit, like, three or four packages," Halford spoke while showing her audience the mailboxes she was talking about. Since she couldn't open the tiny mailboxes without a key and the big gift package wouldn't fit in, she thought of an alternate plan. "So what I'm thinking is that I'll leave him a little note inside my mailbox that I have a little gift bag for him at my house and I'll just leave it at the front door and hopefully, he'll get it from there," Halford continued.

She finally places the note in the mailbox and the gift basket on her doorstep for Daniel to receive. In a follow-up video, Daniel was captured in Halford's doorbell camera as she received the wholesome package. Daniel reached the doorsteps and was pleasantly surprised at the package that Halford had left for him. "No way! Oh, you're so kind. This is awesome," he said while chuckling and checking the gifts and taking them away with him, flashing a big smile at the doorbell camera. According to PEOPLE, Daniel and Halford connected for the first time after her video went viral. “Through this experience, I’ve found how kind of a person he is and how he has a wife and family,” she told the outlet. “I’m so thankful that this whole experience brought us together.”

The comment section of Halford's video was overflowing with positive remarks as well. Daniel–who goes by @doubled2954 on TikTok–appeared in the comment section of her second video and thanked her once again. He wrote, "Hey. I'm your mailman! I'm Daniel! Thank you so much for the basket, again. It made my entire week! Snack choices were spot on! My new favorite customer! Thank you again." @odoyleoddventures commented, "As a mailman in 100-plus-degree weather, I know for a fact he smiled all the way back to the office." @yvettegarcia87mentioned, "Cherish your mailmen! Their job isn’t easy, especially in the summer heat! I always make sure to have cold drinks and snacks for mine."
