The granddaughter shared how her grandma has played a crucial part in her life, and it is her turn to do the same for her.
Sometimes, people might need a reminder of how good or beautiful they are. Especially if they are going through hard times or a difficult illness. A woman has taken it upon herself to remind her grandma with dementia how beautiful she truly is. She has a morning routine with her grandma where they stand in front of the mirror and the woman encourages her grandma to see the beauty in herself. The granddaughter, Corrine Sterling Mundy—who goes by @cray4corrie on TikTok—took to the platform to share the wholesome routine of doing affirmations.
The text overlay of the video reads, "I will never stop reminding her of her beauty. This woman played a major role in shaping the way I think of myself. Now, it's my turn to remind her in moments of doubt. The most beautiful human I know, my mom, the beautiful Sandra Lee." The woman helped her grandma stand in front of the mirror before she started talking to her and doing her hair. "Stand right here, okay? I am just going to do your hair for you," Corrine told her grandma. "Would you look up in the mirror for me? That's you, you are beautiful. Don't you think so?" the granddaughter asked.
"Okay, I guess," the grandma answered. "You are beautiful! C'mon, say it," Corrine encouraged. "I am beautiful," the grandma repeated. "Yes, you are very, very beautiful. Don't ever think, not for one second, that you aren't beautiful, okay? Because you are. You're beautiful inside where it counts and outside, Mom. Outside is a plus," the woman continued. The grandma chuckled a little as her granddaughter added, "You don't need to be beautiful on the outside. But you are, so yeah. You are a lucky ducky." She went on, "Look in the mirror and say, 'I am a lucky ducky.'" The grandmother repeated after her with a smile on her face. The caption read, "Who's cutting onions in here."
The video received more than 19.5k views and over 4k likes. People took to the comments section of the video to appreciate what the grandaughter was doing. @stephaniecrosslmt wrote, "At home, caregiving through these stages of dementia is hard. You are so courageous and you are doing amazing. Do you have a support system?" The creator replied, "It definitely is, thank you. Yes, I do! My support system is very strong. My husband is an angel. He is my rock during this stage of my life. Him & Jesus keep me strong." @allysajordan commented, "You’re an angel on this earth. This made me sob. You deserve the most beautiful life! Sending my love."
@happifulme remarked, "Now it's our turn to take care of them. The things they did in their lives for us are everything. How does life move so fast, these moments are forever." @jordanxlopez shared, "I went through this with my grandpa. I’m now at USC doing research on dementia in honor of him and Sandra. Play her favorite music! Our brain has an amazing ability to still remember music!" @melbelle_m expressed, "I have this one older co-worker and she asked me if she looked different than last year and older and with more wrinkles and told her she was beautiful and we both started sobbing."
