Some love stories are so heartwarming, you can't help but root for them. That’s the case for one woman, Reddit user u/deprimeli, who shared how she met a kind car mechanic while getting her vehicle repaired—and eventually asked for his phone number. Her story quickly went viral, leaving people eager for updates.

She wrote, "After having virtually no human contact (in the sense of a relationship) for two years, I asked a man for his number. He worked as a car mechanic where I went once for a problem with my car." What she liked about him was that he was "really sweet" and he tried to explain things to her "as simply as possible" and answered all her questions and doubts "without making me feel stupid," she wrote. "After I left the mechanic, I kept thinking about him because it's not every day you meet someone who's patient and doesn't treat you like you're clueless just because you're a woman and not familiar with cars," she shared.

After a few days, she left the whole thing behind her until her car started to have issues again. "Instead of being annoyed, my first thought was, 'This must be a sign from God who wants me to see him again.' I couldn't help but smile at how dumb it sounded in my head at first, but to be honest, I was glad for the damage," she admitted. So, she took her car back to the same mechanic. When she walked in, he immediately recognized her and smiled, making her feel less awkward. "We talked about the car issue again and after he was done explaining what needed to be fixed, I finally asked, 'Could I maybe get your number so I can give you a call if the car keeps giving me problems? Just in case you know.'" He then smiled and entered his number into her phone. "I gave it a ring just to be sure (I wanted to be sure that it really was his number)," she shared.

A few days later, she received a WhatsApp message from the car mechanic. He wrote to her, "Just checking to see if your car is behaving." They ended up chatting for a bit and later, he asked her if she wanted to go out with him for an ice cream and a walk in the park. She concluded, "We've arranged to meet on Wednesday after both our work days because the weather is supposed to be nice. I'm really excited about it." The post was captioned, "I asked a really sweet guy for his number." It garnered over 85k upvotes on the platform.
