No one likes a petty neighbor, and sometimes, being so entitled can really come back to you. A woman who goes by u/xxooxxxooxx shared how her neighbor was being obnoxious about trivial things regarding their lawn. Even though the couple tried to ignore the unnecessary drama, she was persistent in making their lives a living hell. Fortunately or unfortunately, her story flipped on her when she decided to call authorities to get her property line surveyed. She got schooled in a way she never saw coming through her own actions, and for the couple just minding their own business, victory made its way to them.

The couple had been living in the area for quite a few years, and so had the elderly woman and her husband. “The neighbor in question technically lives on the cross street to ours, but our driveway is adjacent to her backyard,” she wrote. It was added that they always believed their property extended up to 3-4 feet, and mowed per those measurements. In all the previous years, there was never a problem between the two couples. They would occasionally chat and wave at each other, too. After the elderly woman’s husband passed away, things seemed to take an unwanted turn. The neighbor hired a lawnmower who would use his machine in the mornings on the lawn adjacent to the couple’s bedroom.

The duo used to sleep in due to double shifts, and it seriously tampered with their schedules. “We started getting woken up at 7 am weekly to a lawn mower and leaf blower directly outside our window,” she wrote. When they checked to see why it was so loud, they realized the lawnmower had been using the machine up and down their driveway to reach the neighbor’s lawn. The man made it very clear to the guy that it was his driveway, and it was causing an inconvenience. Though he initially apologized and left, the elderly woman was not happy about the scenario.

Ever since, the neighbor was agitated and entitled. She recalled an instance when her teen was raking leaves on their own lawn, but the elderly woman yelled at him, saying it was her side. “He said he thought our property was from the telephone pole over, she said it wasn't,” the post read. Taking her tantrums for what they’re worth, they tried to maintain a healthy relationship with her, but she was adamant about her passive aggression. Even when offered help, she would yell and decline, as if she had some grudge against the couple.

According to Lemonade Insurance, annoying neighbors is common for many Americans. Around 52% reported that they get frustrated by their next-door neighbors every now and then. Only 32% said they were rarely disturbed and annoyed, while 16% said they didn’t have notorious neighbors at all. The data also revealed that millennials are the most annoyed bunch among other generations. People who are disturbed by noise from their neighbors noted that 7% of the time it’s due to yard work. Things continued to get bitter when she called them out for trivial things, and eventually, they stopped putting up with it and gave it back to her.

After their last argument, the neighbor decided to call the authorities to measure the property line and figure everything out to the T. The results left her red-faced. “Come to find out her land ends on just the opposite side of the telephone pole, which gives her like 5ish less feet,” the woman mentioned. The unruly shenanigans went on, but the duo decided to mind their own business as she had already been gut-punched with the survey she herself called for.

She tried to find the upper hand in the situation by building a fence but because the duo weren’t interested in trespassing to begin with, it was just a nice laugh for them “I find it super silly and even unhinged that she put up a fence, which in my mind says, ‘This is my side, and that is yours.’ But then proceeds to scream at him for being. on our side,” she wrote. The couple had the last laugh at what mattered to the internet. u/Solid-Feature7678 wrote, “Good fences make good neighbors (with the post a few inches inside your property line).” u/Nodbot added, “It's hilarious isn't it? I feel like every weirdo neighbor about property lines always ends up with less.”
