Singer Willow Avalon stops mid-concert to help man surprise his girlfriend with the ultimate 'proposal'
The moment took another heartfelt turn when the celebrity singer requested, 'Please let me know when the wedding is. I would love to come.'
Proposals at music concerts aren't unusual, but having an artist play a cupid certainly is. That's exactly what happened at singer Willow Avalon's (@willowavalon) concert in Groningen, Netherlands, on February 23. She, along with Niels, the groom-to-be, planned a beautiful surprise for his girlfriend, Ramona, just before her performance, PEOPLE reported. The beautiful moment captured by Jesse DeFlorio was shared on Instagram on March 4.
Avalon, who is on her international tour through Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia, still can't believe she was a part of the beautiful proposal. Just as the spotlight shone on the singer and the audience looked forward to her performance, Avalon made an announcement. "I wrote a song about finding love in somebody else that feels like home away from home... I think there are some special people here who found love for themselves like that," she said, creating a bit of confusion. By then, Niels, the groom-to-be, was all ready with a ring in his hand, standing sneakily behind his partner, waiting for Avalon to make a further announcement.
"Ramona, baby, would you turn around?" Avalon asked, and the minute she turned around, Niels went on one knee, showing her the ring. Overwhelmed, the bride-to-be said yes, and the couple shared a romantic kiss in front of the whole crowd. "Congratulations, you guys! Niels and Ramona, y'all. Congratulations!" Avalon said, before hitting the audience with her oh-so-lovely acoustic rendition of her unreleased song "Georgia Mile." The moment took another heartfelt turn when the singer requested, "Please let me know when the wedding is. I would love to come."
The idea of an 'ideal' proposal varies from person to person. While some prefer intimate proposals, some may want to involve their friends or family. For instance, a YouGov survey found that while 67% of couples prefer a private proposal, only 5% would love a public proposal. The survey of 4,216 adults also found that while 18% are against any marriage proposal, 9% are unsure of their preference. Likewise, another study of 1,000 U.S. individuals between 20 and 40 years found that a majority (83%) of respondents prefer a private proposal. Moreover, they found that only half (51%) of proposers prefer their partner remain uninvolved in planning the proposal.
Meanwhile, reacting to the beautiful proposal, @willowavalonbugs commented, "It is so iconic to be getting proposed to at a Willow Avalon concert. Similarly, @artsarnesemusic shared, "It literally feels like a movie scene (also I have been waiting for this song to come out since hearing it last January in Philly)." @manapeek wrote, "I couldn't believe it was happening. Such a beautiful moment and so amazing to witness. Heartfelt congratulations to both of you."
