At some point, almost everyone questions their ability to be a good parent. The fear of not raising a child right or being a loving parent can cause anxiety for many. Some even choose their life partner based on their potential as a parent. One dad, known as u/595six on Reddit, faced this uncertainty and asked his wife what she thought about his potential to be a good dad. Her response was the kind every man hopes to hear, and the internet can't get enough of it.

In his Reddit post, the man shared that about ten years ago, he asked his wife, "Do you think I’ll be a good dad?" To this, he received an unexpectedly heartwarming reply. "Without thought she immediately responded, 'I wouldn’t have married you if I didn’t think you’d be a good dad,'" the man recalled. He was on cloud nine hearing those words from his wife and held this compliment in high regard even now. "A decade and three kiddos later, that’s still the best compliment I’ve ever gotten. I absolutely cherish them. There’s nothing better than being a dad," he added.

Many other dads agreed with him. "I’ve suffered from low self-esteem and anxiety in my 20s but the pride that I get from being a good dad really helped me to beat it. My son always tells me about how nice I am to him but he’s got no idea what he does for me. I’ve always thought of kids as something that holds you back in life but it’s the complete opposite. My son fills me up so much," commented u/quietcitizen. "My wife and I were arguing about how I messed up making beef patties. It was my first time making it, and I shot back saying that I was only trying to cook and eat it because I wanted our son to eat everything. After a 10-second silence, she just muttered 'You're a great dad.' It resolved the fight and made my day," chimed in u/StillBreath7126

One Reddit user joked about the "good dad" compliment saying, "You are lucky. My wife keeps telling me I'm a really good dad in a tone of surprise like she wasn't expecting it." To a certain extent, this is true in many families because dads might get flattered for putting in very little effort. One mom highlighted how little it takes to be a 'good dad' using a hilariously accurate song and the internet found it too relevant. Farideh - who goes on TikTok by @ilovefarideh - pointed out the unequal standards set for mothers and fathers in parenthood with an amusing song.

"I did the cooking and the cleaning and the groceries and the laundry. And someone said to you, 'You are such a good dad,'" the lyrics go. "I woke at 5 a.m. to screaming in the hallway. There was a barf in the bed, so another load of laundry. Our kid was crying, so we talked about our feelings. You were sleeping. That's cool. But then you got up and your mom came over and she said, 'You are such a good dad,'" she sang. This hilariously sarcastic music video struck a chord with many other moms on the internet who emphasized how mothers need to be appreciated more.
