The Christmas season brought happiness, joy, and momentary relief from life’s tumultuous events. Many people are experiencing the lingering after-effects of this festive celebration. Such was the case for a man whose wife secretly checked his phone and gave him the surprise of his life. The husband—who goes by u/gonadi on Reddit—shared that his wife ordered him a pair of customized Nike shoes. The intriguing part was that he had designed these shoes on the brand’s app but left them in his cart without completing the purchase.

The post showed the husband expressing gratitude toward his wife for her major contribution to his life. While appreciating her snooping skills, the loving husband unboxed Nike’s custom-built “Internationalist” edition sneakers. “My wife snooped on my phone and ordered a pair of shoes I designed on the Nike app for Christmas,” he wrote in the caption. He couldn’t have been more excited after witnessing what has been described as “the most wholesome type of phone snooping ever.” As part of his three-picture slideshow on the social platform, the man also donned the Broncos and white-colored sneakers.

Before this, he had been keen to order them until he saw the staggering price tag and felt unsure. His wife also made a hand-printed picture of the iconic footwear, originally designed in the 1980s for serious runners. “Currently being made … on their way soon,” the elementary school teacher wrote on the sketch before giving it to her partner days before the delivery, per the comment. Additionally, the back of the sneakers featured Nike’s iconic tagline: “Just Do It.” Their streetwear style paired perfectly with the man’s blue straight-fit trousers, as he showed them on Reddit. Not only did members of the online community approve of his fashion sense, but they also praised his wife for her sweet gesture.

Among them, u/CintiaPermelia lauded, “The real MVP here is your wife’s detective skills. And your design taste isn’t bad either!” The man’s response included the backstory behind the meaningful purchase. “I mean, she knows my code, and she watched me make them while we were watching ‘Wheel of Fortune.’ This is middle age,” the husband said. When u/druidofdruids commented, “The shoes also look very nice. Clearly, you have a very loving partner,” his response was filled with humor: “I guess I’ll keep her. She’s pretty great.”

“In the wife category, I won the Super Bowl, that’s for sure,” the man added in another such comment, appreciating his wife’s efforts to surprise him on the special occasion.

Another sneakerhead, u/HumbleScottish, wrote, “Not a big fan of those style of trainers myself, but the colors are spot on. Guaranteed, you’ll be designing more.” They claimed to have personally designed at least 13 pairs of trainers on Nike’s app. The man acknowledged that the pair of shoes ordered by his wife was indeed expensive and might strain his wallet. “This is going to be dangerous for my bank account. Maybe I can justify it that I’ll take better care of them knowing they’re custom,” he concluded. Others wished their partners had planned something like this.
