A woman who suspected men were paid more at the local outlet wasn't surprised when her husband came back with more cash.
Scarlett Johnson who goes by @scarjo28 on TikTok wanted to test out a controversial theory at her end. She made a video of how her husband was able to get better prices for their baby clothes compared to her. When her husband came back with better results, she realized how she went in with similar quality and quantity of products and still got quoted way less. The whole thing made no sense to Johnson and she took to TikTok to share about the incident.
Scarlett shot the video to test out a theory, she had heard of. "All right, so I saw on TikTok, that if you send your husband in you're more likely to get some money," she added. The woman here is talking about the practice of reselling baby clothes. In this economy, everyone is trying to scrape off money from anything possible. Babies outgrow their clothes at a rapid pace, which leads to most parents ending up with a huge stash of clothes. Many choose to sell them so that they can get the money to invest in other things. Once Upon a Child, is an establishment that is frequently visited by such parents to fulfill their reselling needs. This is where Johnson wanted to test her theory.
Johnson explained what was to happen with her partner. She said, "I'm gonna have him go in, create an account, and see if he does better than I normally do. Because, get us paid." Basically, he is going to do everything his wife normally does, to see whether the outcome remains the same or changes. As she waited in the car, the woman went on a rant about how she always brings the good stuff but never gets paid properly.
After what seemed like a bit of a wait, her husband arrived. He returned with a pink receipt, sharing that it would take an hour to complete all the proceedings and get the registration done. The moment of truth arrived. He came with $127 for all the items. The husband beamed as he delivered the news, "I overshot your expectations." Johnson was flabbergasted. She vented, "Even when I sold like 10 pairs of shoes last time and a bunch of clothes, I only got 90 bucks."
The different reactions to men and women did not make any sense. A man walks in doing a task that is generally done by a woman and gets overcompensated for it. The same would never be the case for women. Ultimately though Johnson was happy to have stumbled upon the method. From now on all the trips to "Once Upon a Child" will be made by her partner.
The comment section shared their own experiences. @tg_642 was shocked by the whole incident and wrote, "That’s insane! I have NEVER gotten over $100!!! 87 was the most I’ve got." @kaylakillinit backed up the theory and commented, "I ALWAYS send my husband in to sell clothes, partially (mostly) because of anxiety but he always gets good money from it."
