When Nikki Wright (@nikkim111) discovered she was pregnant, she didn't immediately tell her husband. Instead, she waited for the perfect moment and let the Hurst Police Department announce her pregnancy. The Texas woman, now mom to an adorable baby girl, posted the video on YouTube.

Jarred, Nikki's husband, a U.S. Army veteran, was going through a difficult phase when he realized he was going to be a father. Battling anxiety and panic attacks, he had been admitted to an inpatient hospital twice within a span of only six months. In fact, Jarred had just returned from the hospital when Todd Colichia, a police officer, pulled him over and accused him of driving with a child without a safety seat in the back. "I don't have a child," Jarred argued, only to hear the officer ask again, "Are you sure?"

Confused, he turned to Nikki and was shocked to see her holding a positive pregnancy test kit. "I think that means you are a daddy, buddy," Officer Colichia said, before suggesting they name their baby "Todd." As Jarred struggled to process the news, another officer handed Nikki a gift bag through the passenger window. Overwhelmed, the father-to-be opened the bag and found an infant bodysuit and a teddy bear bearing a card revealing Nikki was due on his birthday. "How do you feel?" Nikki asked her husband, who was sweating, still reeling from the shock. "I am happy," he replied, before pulling Nikki for a sweet kiss.

Jarred met Office Colichia for the first time during one of his panic attack episodes. The police officer not only helped him calm down, but he also escorted him to a hospital. Knowing the impact the officer had on Jarred, his wife, Nikki, decided to let him announce the good news to him. "I felt honored, for one, that she would even allow me to be part of it, because that's a huge moment in anyone's life," Colichia told BuzzFeed News.

Moreover, he recalled Jarred's reaction and said there was a visible shift in him when he realized he was going to be a daddy. "When I first told him, he was sitting there looking straight at me. He looked straight past her the first time. Then I could see it in his eyes. Something changed. That's when he came to the realization," he added.

Pregnancy and baby-related announcements have surged in the last few years. A survey of 2,000 parents by Pregnacare found the trend of capturing reactions of close friends and family to pregnancy announcements had increased by 600% since the start of 2020. While most seem to enjoy the growing trend, 76% of respondents said some pregnancy trends, such as grand gender reveal parties or pregnancy announcements, have become a little too extreme. Moreover, while 76% feeling that pregnancy-related trends have changed since they had their first child, 16% confessed to being influenced by celebrities or social media.

Meanwhile, reacting to the beautiful pregnancy reveal, @harashikalou commented, "That was neat. It's like he couldn't handle that amount of happiness; he was going to explode, hahaha." @pearljessop1877 wrote, "Wow, that was such an awesome way to tell your husband that you are pregnant. Shout out to those police officers for helping you; I'm sure it made their day."
