The suit trouble happened when they were dating, it became more hilarious when it occurred again.
Spider-Man is a global favorite, but one woman’s story about her husband might make you see the superhero in a new light. The woman, known as u/throw_spidey_away on Reddit, shared a hilarious saga of how her partner got stuck in his Spider-Man suit—not once, but twice in four years. In February 2020, she recounted the first time her then-boyfriend wore the suit for a superhero party. Little did he know he'd be trapped in it for hours, helpless, until his girlfriend came to his rescue.
She described the suit as "a one-piece with two zip pullers on the back—one from the top and one from the bottom, meeting in the middle—covering his whole body and head." While he struggled with the zippers, his girlfriend helped him get suited up before heading out to the store. She never considered how he’d unzip himself. "I left both zip pullers in the middle of his back, where he can’t reach at all," she explained, adding that his muscular build left about 4-5 inches unreachable. To make matters worse, the suit covered his fingers, so he couldn't even use his phone to call for help.
When she returned from the store an hour later, she instantly "burst out laughing" seeing her "furious" boyfriend still stuck in his suit. She quickly unzipped him in two seconds and the man started rethinking the whole costume idea. Four years later, this April, the woman took to Reddit to share how they'd relived the experience. The now-married 33-year-old man donned his Spidey suit once again to surprise his 6-year-old nephew who was "Spiderman-obsessed." However, this time, the man reminded his wife to help him unzip.
An epic fail ensued when the wife forgot the husband's reminder. She had plans to go out with her sister and absent-mindedly hopped into the car and left home, forgetting that her husband was waiting for her to unzip his suit. "Two hours later, I came home to find a very angry Spiderman sitting on the couch watching football. I made him promise to forgive me before I unzipped it," she concluded. People cracked up at the husband's unique adventures. When many suggested they attach a lace or thread to the zipper, the wife clarified that it was the "invisible" kind and they couldn't do so. She added that her husband was too shy to ask the neighbors for help.
"So next time your husband needs to slip your phone, or car keys, or something you wouldn't leave without inside the suit with him," quipped u/crashcanuck. "This is so damn funny, and genuinely aww'd when I noticed the original post said, 'boyfriend' and this one says, 'husband.' Congrats!" said u/KellyinaWheelieBin. "My friend did this to herself in a Tweety Bird costume. Someone helped her zip up, but no one else was around when she got back from the party. She had to sleep in the costume til the next day when she could find someone to help her. Fortunately, she didn’t have to go to the bathroom!" wrote u/Walway.
