Wife has the best reply when husband who wanted prenup asks to void it after learning she earns more than him

Marriage requires partners to discuss their emotional and financial expectations before taking the plunge. In many cases, prenuptial agreements enter the scene because people want to have that financial cushion to fall back on in case things go south. This was the case for u/TakingCrazypills000 and her now-husband, who insisted on a financial prenup before their wedding. Years later, the tables turned humorously as she began to out-earn him significantly.

She said, “Before we got married, he had me sign a prenup stating that our financials would always be separate and the only thing we would share was an expense account to pay for household-related fees.” The woman further mentioned that the reason for the same was because her husband had a better financial position at the time while she was still in grad school. “I signed nonetheless because I understood he wanted to protect himself,” said the wife. 3 years later, the woman shared that she is making three times her husband's salary and has a better financial grip. However, the duo stayed unaware of each other’s incomes. The husband was clinging to the idea of protecting his finances, assuming that his wife wasn’t doing that well. Things took a sarcastically hilarious turn when the woman decided to buy herself a car.

“He wasn’t interested and just told me to get whatever I liked,” said the woman as she revealed to her husband her intention to buy the car. Soon enough, the woman purchased a stunning Audi while her husband was on a business trip. “I showed him my car, and he was happy for me, however, later, he asked me what my monthly payments were as the Audi was pretty new.” He mistakenly assumed she financed the car, underestimating her income. Reality had not clicked yet. The wife then told her husband that she had purchased the car with complete cash.

The woman further revealed that her husband was happy for her and did not say much. “A few hours later, he came back to me and told me that he thinks we should void the prenup,” she added. She then shared that she let out an unusual reaction. “I laughed in his face and asked him why and he said that we’re married and should share our finances.” To this, the woman responded, “I told him that we’ve been married for 6 years and yet we’ve never shared finances and I was fine with what we were doing, and his sudden change of heart was very suspicious.” It caused the man to rage up and storm out of the house.

There seemed to be a sort of comparison the man was holding and the fact that he wasn’t ready to trust her with his finances and wanted vice-versa seemed unfair.
