The coworker got pregnant around the same time she was out taking her kids to her parents’ house.
It takes a tremendous lot of effort to build strength in a marital bond. In the case of a 36-year-old woman (u/Southern_Bee8788), a single blinking cursor was enough to make it collapse. A year ago, she found a Google document and some chats that clearly showed her husband and his co-worker's interactions had gone beyond a normal work friendship. Then the other day, the timing of the coworker’s pregnancy deepened her suspicions. Her October 23, 2026, Reddit post has nearly 100 upvotes.
I am planning to secretly leave my husband, and letting a man get attached to a baby that might not be his.

The woman started off the post by saying that she’s on the verge of divorcing her husband, with whom she has two kids. She said she had discovered what she believed was an emotional affair between her husband and a coworker, while suspecting — but not being able to prove — that it had become physical. This started a year ago when she found out about the affair. She kept sneaking into his phone and grabbing screenshots as proof to facilitate the divorce.

They had especially moved outside a major Southwestern city so he could work in a job with a big tech company while she worked part-time as a stay-at-home mom. He always talked about a coworker, an analyst in his company. But as time went by, the woman realized, from his chats and a Google Doc, that the coworker shared way too many details of her marital life with him. The coworker often complained that her husband was “stupid, smelly, fat, bald, and ugly" and didn’t treat her like she was his wife but like his child. The woman referred to the coworker's husband by the name Daniel for the sake of the post.

Then, in August, the co-worker went on leave until October. The woman noticed that her husband became moody and sullen ever since she was gone. Since her husband was with her 24x7, he couldn’t even talk to her. What fueled the woman’s suspicions even more was that the coworker got pregnant in the same timeframe when she was out taking her kids to her parents’ house. Besides, the coworker had four to five IVF failures with her husband, and to think that she got pregnant out of nowhere only added to her suspicions. Also, the security cameras at their house had some glitches while she was gone to her parents' house. “Regardless of whether the baby is my husband's or not, I am leaving him,” the woman stated.
Workplace relationships are fairly common, although they do not necessarily involve infidelity. In a 2025 report based on a December 2024 survey of 1,071 U.S. workers, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that 52% said they had either been in or were currently involved in a workplace romance. Among workers who had such relationships, 53% said love-related motivations were very or extremely important in bringing them together. The survey does not indicate whether those relationships began while either person was already married.

Meanwhile, Reddit warned the woman to immediately file for a divorce and put her well-being as a priority while she goes through the process. Although she's worried about the co-worker's husband, the readers cautioned her to prioritize her own mental health and take care of him later. u/biteme717 said, “Set up a consultation with an attorney, and they will tell you what you can and can't do. Most attorneys will do a free consultation. I would find out if she's had the baby and take her a gift, and then you can see her baby.” u/baby8227 added, “This kid is a potential sibling for your kids. I would file and demand a paternity test!”
