The baby and mom have faced numerous health issues since the baby's birth, making things harder for them.
Having a new baby and making adjustments to life as per a baby's routine and health can be quite challenging. Hence the belief that it takes a village to raise a child. A new mom needs all the help that she can get. However, one mom found herself in a tough spot when she had no support with her baby and her husband refused to let her rest properly. The woman, u/ellie9236, took to Reddit to ask the internet for advice.
The woman and her husband have a 7-month-old baby who requires exclusive nursing due to low blood sugar and allergic reactions. "I’ve also had various health conditions pop up since he was born (so on going about 7 months now) that I’ve been struggling to manage," the woman shared. "My hands started to break down in rashes too which I thought was a manifestation of my celiac (gluten intolerance) so I thought it would go away because I haven’t been consuming gluten. When the rashes persisted, I scheduled with a dermatologist and she prescribed some creams including a steroid and antibiotic which have been difficult to balance because I need my hands to take care of the baby."
She ordered gloves but she still struggles quite a lot because the baby barely stays with the father and she has no other form of support. The baby hangs out with dad from 6:45 AM to 7:45 AM. "I usually sleep during that 45 minutes because after caring for a baby all night. It is the only time I get to stretch out in bed and sleep as a solo person and can sleep on my belly or however, I choose," she added. "I am completely exhausted and need the energy to take care of a baby solo for the next 8+ hours." But one day the husband decided to wake the woman up even when she was exhausted. "I was dead exhausted this morning, and instead of letting me sleep, my husband kept insisting I wake up and poured cold water all over my face while I was asleep," she revealed.
"It turned into a fight. We hired someone this week (as a trial week) to help us meal prep because I’ve been struggling to prepare healthy meals for myself while also caring for a 7-month-old," the mom revealed. The person was due to start that day but the mom suggested that she ask them not to come in that day as they were fighting. She wrote, "He got mad saying the world doesn’t start and stop for my feelings. When I mentioned canceling today, he said, 'No, she is fired if you cancel her today! You can starve!'" The woman admitted that she was all over the place because of the lack of emotional support.
People took to the comments section of the thread to support the woman. u/Lanky_Particular_149 wrote, "Well I had that husband and it doesn't get better. You have to decide if you're willing to deal with this your whole life or leave him." u/Amazing-Wave4704 commented, "Please leave him. This is so abusive and followed by gaslighting. It's not going to get better." u/TalkAboutTheWay remarked, "Yep. I’d bet that a lot of the physical issues are psychosomatic symptoms from the extreme stress she’s experiencing from being abused."
