A woman came across a strange note her husband had made on his phone's digital calendar and was surprised to learn what it was about.
People often seek a partner who is caring, understanding, supportive and considerate towards their feelings. A perfect partner strives to be by their loved one's side through the good times and bad. When it comes to women, they crave this support as they go through their monthly menstrual cycles which often bring discomfort and mood swings. This is precisely what Reddit user u/CaffeinateMeCapn’s husband demonstrated with his thoughtful gesture.
The woman started her post by revealing how she'd noticed an unusual entry her husband had made in his phone calendar. "I wasn't snooping. He opened his calendar for something else and I saw he had today marked 'be available for support.' When I asked what that meant, he showed me that he had that on his calendar to repeat every 28 days for five days because I get rough period symptoms," the woman revealed.
Her husband kept track of her menstrual cycle and, when the time came, made trips to the store to pick up "comfort snacks" for her. "The guy can't remember to take his own allergy medication," she joked at the end. The husband was praised by the Reddit community for his thoughtful actions and for offering care and support to his wife when she needed it. u/SeverinoBasilioFul shared, "My partner skips the calendar and just knows it’s time when I get snarky and cranky. He shows up with chocolate, ginger ale and the heating pad, saying, 'Truce?' Small gestures like that mean everything to me."
u/Tango_Owl suggested, "I too cannot remember to take medications, even though they are super important. A medication reminder app has solved that issue. You can schedule reminders, log when you take them and see statistics. For those wondering, I use 'Take Your Pills.' It's only on Android and has no backup option. But it also doesn't store your data in the cloud, you can download it yourself. It's super easy to use and has been very effective for me." u/lightlysaltedclams added, "I’m dumb and haven’t started tracking mine but I get terrible mood swings and pain around mine and anxiety when it’s not on time. The last time I had texted my boyfriend freaked out because it felt way too early and he dug through our chat history to find where my last one was. He’s so sweet."
Speaking to Newsweek, etiquette expert Jo Hayes praised the husband's actions. Hayes called it "a model of selfless and loving partnership." She urged other people to adopt these basic practices in their relationships as well. "Somebody give this man a medal for boyfriend of the year or husband of the year," Hayes told the outlet. "What a beautiful, kind, thoughtful man. This is an example of a selfless and loving partnership. We can all take a leaf out of this man's book—yes, certainly with our romantic relationships but this attitude and mindset would benefit all our relationships."
