'This was completely out of the blue. I would’ve said our marriage was doing well until now...'

Even a packet of spicy-sweet chili nachos and a can of beer isn't enough to heal someone who just found their spouse cheating on them. A man (u/intelligent_step_855) experienced just that when he found his wife cheating on him with her CEO. It was an ordinary day when, after putting his 16-month-old to bed, he plugged his wife’s iPad in to charge, oblivious to the secrets she'd been carrying. At first, it seemed like an innocent late-night text from her boss, until the man read it. In a September 6, 2026, Reddit post, he recalled the incident and described it as one of his wife’s “maniac episodes.” His post has received over 5,000 upvotes.
After he put his toddler to bed, he picked up his wife's iPad to download some movies, but the battery was low, so he plugged it in to charge. Everything was alright until the man woke up to a midnight text from her CEO. "Tons of texts in the middle of the night between her and him, and saw the messages about him going and buying her a plan B the morning after," he recounted. The texts confirmed that his wife was romantically involved with her boss, especially considering she'd recently been on a company-sponsored work trip with him.

"This was completely out of the blue; we’ve had our bumps, but I would’ve said our marriage was doing well until now," the man said. In fact, he added that although they've had some conflicts, none was big enough to provoke infidelity. Another reason the man could think of behind her conduct was her postpartum struggle. He said his wife was on antidepressants and often told him that she didn’t feel like herself. Moreover, their son loves him more than his mom, which is why his wife is quite jealous.
Fast forward to the present, the man said he hasn’t confronted his wife yet and is currently considering talking to a lawyer first. Since he has a tight work schedule, he is also afraid that he wouldn’t get 50/50 custody of their son. This scares him not just for himself but also for his son’s well-being, given the psychotic nature of his wife. “I would be willing to try to work things out with her, mostly for the sake of our son. He’s my whole world, and I’m his favorite person,” he described.

Workplace romances aren’t the dream for everyone. Sometimes, they fill the void left in their heart from their current relationship. According to an episode of the Ken Coleman Show, a shocking 85% of the affairs start in the workplace. Additionally, a study by Forbes Advisor reported that nearly 40% of the workplace romances involve a person cheating on their existing partner. Of these, 65% reported that comfort and desire to meet romantic interests were some common reasons behind workplace romances.

Reddit readers cautioned the man not to tolerate a cheating wife just for the sake of his son and to get his ducks in a row before she tries to cause drama to stay in the relationship. For instance, u/Adamc026 commented, “Never tolerate cheating; even as a 'manic episode,' it's just torture to you. Do get in contact with the lawyer first, learn all your options and the consequences. Her being diagnosed with postpartum depression may fall in your favor for the kiddos, especially after cheating. Doesn't look great in her favor." u/Difficult-Orchid7419 said, “Get the jump on her with everything. Move funds, retain counsel, get your ducks in a row. If she’s the type to cheat, then she’ll probably get real nasty with the divorce. If you put her on the back foot, you’ll most likely get out of it better with everything.”
